Why no complaints about the turkeys running the war?

In my studies of Vietnam, former soldiers are bitter about the interference of non-expert civilians, such as (former USAAF officer) Robert S McNamara. Yet I never hear a peep about the fact that those who originated, planned and prosecute the Iraq war [Rumsfeld, Perle, Wolfowitz, Cheney, Bush] are Washington bureaucrats, very detached from the real world and UTTERLY detached from the military. And this very lack of expertise is the reason for the loss of direction and lack of a strategy. If the reason for the different attitude isn't political, what is it?

    It is one of the greatest travesties that the president is the commander and chief of the military. I would love to see a president, some time in the future, admit that he/she is NOT the best person for this job...and defers to the real experts. Now that would be someone I could vote for in confidence!

    a commander is responsible for the actions of his men, that's been true since the time of the Romans. GWB is the the man in charge and that's why the responsibility for the Iraq Mess is in his lap.

    If we would get the media and the retired Generals out of the war and let those in charge do what has to be done we could and would be out of there by now.

    politics on one side and military on other..

    politics said > go fck em up

    Military said > we dont know who to fck up.

    Politics said > go in there and shoot something okay ? get ur ass in there now!!

    Military said > okay! boss..

    off goes the turkey to war with out a head..

    Politics said > wheres ur head turkey ?

    Milititary said > aren;t u the head ?

    Politics said > me Bush ? me rumsfeild ? we don;t give heads!

    different era. besides, it's the NCOs and officers on the ground that are running the real show- the bureaucrats just take credit or blame
