Why won't illegals learn english?
Here in California Mexican illeagals could learn english for free at adult school. Every school district has a adult school program. They take advantage of everything else that is free. Why not learn the language of the country they want to live and work in?

Totally agree. My dad is Aboriginal/Greek and my mom is European. I can speak several Aoriginal languages as well as Greek, German, and some Russian. My native language is Greek and when I came to America at age 6 I HAD TO LEARN ENGLISH. I wouldn't have gotten through life without it. But now, when I call even verizon to make changes to my account or anything, I have ot listen to this whole Spanish rant. I don't like the language at all and I definitely think they need to learn English. I had to. And I immigrated here legally.

Hiya,
First off, we should stop calling those people 'illegal', no human being is illegal, they are undocumented.
Now, there are many factors to keep in mind such as the location of the adult school, the fear to acknowledge their limited English skills, lack of time because of the different jobs take to make ends meet, perhaps they are illiterate in Spanish, lack of private means of transportation,etc.
Often, all these reasons prevent them from taking advantage of the program you mention. However, for the program to be successful, it should be located close to where they live.
