Are there surge protectors for washing machines?

My mother board of my Whirlpool Duet washing machine has gone out 4 times in 4 years. I'm running out of warranty. Are there surge protectors for the plugs utilized by washing machines? Thank you for your time.

Update:

Thanks, but does anyone know where to get this or where I need to go? Or even what it's called? Pat answers aren't any help.

I use "Belkin" brand surge protectors on all of my electronic devices. They all have grounded three prong recepticles. I do not use one for my washer, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't. An inexpensive surge protector should offer protection to any circuit board in your washer.

Do you have other unprotected electronic devices in your house that are damaged by power surges? I'm not an appliance repairman, but it strikes me oddly that you have had so many problems with this one appliance. It could be that there is a problem with the wiring in your washer. I wonder if there is a pair of wires causing a momentary dead short. Washers often do a lot of shaking on the spin cycle, and this shaking could possibly cause two wires to touch and short the circuit. Has the repairman checked all of the wiring in the washer, or did he simply replace the circuit board without looking for any other possible problems?

You can try a surge protector, but if the problem is elsewhere, it will probably not solve your problem.

Good luck with your washing machine problem.

Yes you can. A surge protector will act as a second safety system so that any plug and internal fuses will not burnout. As washer/dryers have circuit-boards similar to computers and television then it is extra peace-of-mind to have these installed.

No you can't use surge protectors on washing machines, you must have a short in your plugs or somewhere in your house or someone is abusing your machines or they are just lemon washing machines you are purchasing, best to consult the lemon law you could have bad machines, perhaps consult the manufacturer about this. Good Luck !
