If your sister is on Social Security Disability or State Disability, i think that the Social Security department can legally get it from their own records.

    Have you asked them?

    all the best.

I didn't know my real father but wanted a copy of his death certificate. So I wrote Social Security and they provided me with his SSN.

Call 1-800-772-1213 and start asking them questions.

I was told that a deceased person no longer has privacy rights so getting your mother social security # won't be too difficult.

Take your mother's death certificate and go to the nearest Social Security office and talk to them about it. I am sure they can supply it if they believe that it is necessary. Make sure you have your birth certificate and your sisters along with photo ID's just in case they need it.

I think you need to get a death certificate for your mother which should have her social security number on it.

If you have a copy of her death certificate, it should be on there. But children are now issued a social security number at birth, she needs her own number.

I believe you should be able to go to the Social Security Death Index online and track it down.

Try your local social security office. Maybe you could find her card or ask them to send another one. You can also try to ask anyone in your family that would know it. Look on any important papers that you may have laying around for it.

Call your local social security office. With proper i.d and your mom's death certificate you should be able to get it without any trouble.

If she is on disability through social security, then they (SSA)are capable of looking it up for your sister. They will not look it up for you unless you're your sister's payee.

If she receives benefits through some place else, they can also look up your sister's claim without your mom's SSN.
