What qualifies "success" in Afghanistan and Iraq?

Success is what Bush declares it to be.

There are no other measurable criteria, no specific objectives, no clear goals -- no finish line except what Bush declares.

I am not going to repeat everything Larry G said, but I agree with all his statements, save 1. He said that the Iraqis don't want us here... that is a bunch of bull that the media is feeding the world. I am here, and I see what we are doing... I see all the positive reactions and the Sheiks that are asking for stronger Coalition Forces presence in their areas after seeing what affects we have on keeping the terrorists (somewhat) at bay.

Additionally, the claims about "no WMDs" are also false. There are tons of websites for those who are willing to open their eyes and see the truth (I'm not talking about crazy, conspiracy theory blogs and such, I mean legitimate government sites)... I won't bother posting them as no one will bother looking anyway... I wonder what those people think happened to a hundred thousand Kurds? How do they explain the extreme deformation of so many children in Iraq?? Ridiculous. I will not go into any details, but suffice to say that they were/are here. And anyone who doesn't think that Iraq was a threat to the rest of the world is out of their mind.

answer 1. We missed Osama, he went into southern Pakistan where we can't go after him. The Taliban was all but eradicated but reorganized in Pakistan and is trying to reestablish itself in southern Afghanistan, and getting their butts handed to them AGAIN.

answer 2. He used WMD's on the Kurds so to say he didn't have them is B.S., they have been moved or hidden or both. Saddam Hussein is no longer a threat to anyone on Earth, the 9-11 connection has been proven false.

answer 3. We are now fighting for the Iraqi people, even though they don't want us there. The sectarian violence was unforeseen and is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

answer 4. When Iraq can stand on her own, when Afghanistan can stand on her own, then it will be successful. should be around the year 2080.

Bush has his "Think Tank" comprised of Cheney, Rove, and Rumsfeld still running that one over the coals - and as soon as they come up with a viable routine that they can live with, and still keep all of their war profits, I am certain that they will advise us - in due time.

However the news there is not good!

Nope, the Taliban had no mass destruction weapons. the idea was to get the poor people out of the stone age(served there for^years). the problem was this kinky ideology. this Muslim sharia stuff. we caught a couple of Taliban leaders before they went to cq. and these prisoners who should be strong religious, drank all my whiskey. What a ******* joke!!

i was under the same impression as you for our reasons for going to these wars. i'm sad to say that i think its about oil and israel. or maybe the U.S. needs to establish itself there to prevent wider more devastating war from spreading.

if we weren't there israel would be attacked hardcore and the oil would go unprotected. the results would be terrible.

In Iraq, it was to sell oil to our allies, not to China, it is a success...
