Did you read this? Should Alberto Gonzales resigned now?
President Bush isn't rushing to the rescue of his old Texas friend, Alberto Gonzales, after the attorney general's one-time lieutenant undercut his old boss' account of the firings of eight federal prosecutors.
Rather than merely signing off on the firings, as Gonzales has repeatedly stated, his former chief of staff says the attorney general was in the middle of things from the beginning.
"I don't think the attorney general's statement that he was not involved in any discussions of U.S. attorney removals was accurate," Kyle Sampson told a Senate Judiciary Committee inquiry Thursday into whether the dismissals were politically motivated.
"I remember discussing with him this process of asking certain U.S. attorneys to resign," Sampson said.
Sampson also told the panel that the White House had a large role in the firings, with one-time presidential counsel Harriet Miers joining Gonzales in approving them.

He should resign post haste or be fired I do not care which.
The attorney General of the United States is the highest level of Law enforcement there is in this country!
If he thinks he can lie to Congress, we have the wrong man in this office. If he can not take the heat and tell the truth, then he is in the wrong job!
I do not think there was anything wrong with the firings, they are political appointees that serve at the pleasure of the President (well in this case marionette) for a 4-year term, if he wants to ask them to leave then they should leave.
That is all that the administration and the puppet should have said. But NOOOOOOO
Gonzales said he did not have anything to do with it and he told Congress that!
The Emails and testimony under oath tells another story, that he in deed knowingly lied to Congress.
That should be the end of the road, we can not have an Attorney General that tries to mislead and lie to congress or for that mater to We The People or we also live in a Lawless state just as they do in Iraq and Iran!

Bush is easily one of those human beings that won't be able to admit his close personal chum is a d*mned fool!! Loyalty is an admirable trait in dogs yet when Bush became fairly a servant of the human beings then Gonzales could never have even been nominated!! Gonzales resigned because he finally discovered that if each person despises you and could no longer artwork with then you you really may as well go residing house for some peace and quiet!

No, Gonzales shouldn't resign. The hiring and firing of the attorneys are at his discretion. Scores of attorneys were fired before these 8 and lots will be filed after.
Sampson also told the panel that there was nothing political about the firings and they were done on merit...Why did you leave that part out?
