alcohol and anitbiotics?

1) You always here don't drink if your on antibiotics because it makes them not work...Why?

2) I s this true for all antibiotics or is a carryover from pennicillin and new ones aren't affected?

3) Does it make them not work or just lessens the support they give?

4) Also, is a single beer out or are they talking more getting drunk like?

    Well, if you drink alcohol, it works as a diuretic (flushes fluid from your body). When you flush fluid from your body, it also flushes out drugs as well as vitamins. So, alcohol can do 1 of 2 things: 1.) remove the antibiotic from your system so that it doesn't stay in your blood plasma to work or 2.) Stop your kidneys from filtering out the antibiotic so that you accumulate a toxic level of the antibiotic in your blood plasma eventually leading to death.

    1)some antibiotics make u drowsy

    2)this is true for all medicines

    3)it could cause your reflexes and judgement 2 be desorded other wise not function right

    4)that includes all kinds of alcohol
