Which would you rather visit: Deep Ocean or Rain Forest?
Pretend you won a National Geographic Society contest (or whatever!) and you got the chance to explore one place that relatively few people have had a chance to see.
Would you choose the chance to explore 1,000's of feet into the depths of the ocean in a submersible or would you want to visit the interior of the tropical rain forest as part of a research expedition?
Naturally, I also would like to know why. LOL

I don't do well in heat and humidity, so the Deep Ocean.
I'd love to see some of those phosphorescent creatures down there, along with the really bizarre ones like the Angler Fish.

For me, it would unquestionably be the rainforest. While there's a great deal we don't know about both environments, the rain forest is the one that's most accessible to the most people, and the one that holds so much promise for medicine and research. While there may some day be a means to go to the depths of the ocean on a routine basis, anybody (within reason) can go to the rain forest and learn. Besides, I'm a plant geek, so the place would fascinate me. Short of winning a contest, I guess I will stick with the temperate rain forest on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington state (I live near Seattle), and take side trips to the ocean - the best of both worlds!

Definitely rain forest. You can go anyplace that humans go in the deep ocean without leaving your computer screen. You need 6" or thereabouts of shell and some very thick windows between human bodies and seafloor pressures. Robots can do a much better job. Rain forests can be touched , smelled, heard, experienced much more fully if you have your body with you.
The deep ocean is the more interesting place. The environment there is so strange we often can't figure out what an organism is doing when we watch it doing it. If you want the experience to be more realistic, though, sit under your desk while you watch the computer monitor.

I'd rather visit a tropical rain forest. I usually think of myself as an adventurous person, but the deep ocean is too alien for me to be comfortable. When I have seen programs showing life in the deep ocean, the total darkness is disturbing to me. It's probably the combination of the darkness and the total dependence upon the equipment for oxygen, protection from the pressure, ...

Make it 12000's of feet into the depths of the ocean and I will definetly prefer to go there, not many people go there. More people go to the Rain Forest than the Deep Ocean.
Besides, it's 'clean'er in a submarine than in a rain forest.
And in my case, definetly Deep Ocean, I'm not into 'organic'.

The deep ocean.......that would be the thrill of a lifetime. I feel
I can go to the Rain Forest on my own, but not that many opportunities to go the ocean way deep down. I would love that, all the unusual sea life in their natural habitat.
Awesome

the deepest depths of the ocean by far. i love the ocean and all that lives in it. i think it's wrong when someone is attacked by a shark and they kill the shark or even worse many sharks.the ocean is there home .it is the same as a stranger coming into to your home, there taking a chance and could die from that decision. as for the rain forest i'm way to afraid of bugs n stuff.

I would definitely want to explore the deep ocean because there is more hidden secret in the waters depth than there is on land, and I also want to see the titanic wreck with my eyes!!!! The beauty of water hides with so many more wonders than we ever had known of so I want to take a chance to explore and find things that maybe are unknown to us!!! What do you want to explore out of these two chices you just gave?

Definitely the rain forest.
Of course either would be a wonderful experience. However, in the submersible your opportunity to view your surroundings is limited to a fairly tiny portal. In the rain forest your experience not only includes the sights, but the sounds, smells, and feel as well.
