Contemporary Nutrition textbook, 8th ed.: Is there a difference between international and regular editions?
I am going to purchase a copy of this textbook. The international edition has a different ISBN and different cover art (I think). Is the content exactly the same? Does it violate some publishing law to purchase an international edition online? Need to make a decision quickly, so I appreciate any input.
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoIs cork a good choice for the floor in a three season porch? House was built in 1920s. Other suggestions?
Right now I'm just thinking about the floor. We don't want to use something heavy like slate because we don't want to risk having the porch settle from the extra weight. The windows will be enough weight. The porch spans the south side of the house which is the front. Will cork hold up in the winter sunlight? Will it be prohibitively expensive?
2 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoPrinter Epson Stylus CX4600 doesn't recognize the ink cartridges. How can I get around this and print?
The printer wanted more yellow ink, so I replaced that cartridge. Now it doesn't recognize any of the cartridges even though I only changed one. I only want to print with the black ink anyway, but this #%@!! printer won't print in black if one of the colors is empty. Any quick advice before I dropkick this unit out the back door.
Note: it has done this before and I tried everything I could think of and finally got it to work. I just don't remember what magic trick finally worked.
Printers1 decade agoIs it necessary to have a European banking card to use an ATM in Lisbon? I'm American and don't have one.
I'm reading a book called "Conversational Portuguese in Seven Days" (yeah, right) and it says:
" Unless you have a European banking card, you will not be able to use an ATM in Portugal." Is this true? I have a Visa bank card and a Visa credit card as well as a Master Card credit card. Will I be able to use the ATMs? Or should I bring dollars to exchange? You've been so helpful with my other questions. I'm off in two days!
6 AnswersPortugal1 decade agoIf you live in Portugal, what small item would you like to have from the United States?
I want to bring some small gifts for people who are especially helpful to my son in the hospital in Lisbon. I know it is not expected, but it is something I would like to do. Any good ideas?
10 AnswersPortugal1 decade agoIs this part of Lisbon safe to walk at night? Hospital de Egas Moniz.?
I'm used to American cities where certain parts of most cities are not safe at night. Many of them are not even safe in the day! We will be walking between the Hospital de Egas Moniz and the Hotel Vila Gale Opera at the foot of the April 25 bridge. And is that region very hilly? For two days we will have my son in a wheelchair and the rest of the time it will be my husband and me. Are the sidewalks suitable for a wheelchair in that area? We will also stay one night at the Best Western Hotel Eduardo VII and will have our son with us. Is that area very hilly? The land is extremely flat where we live, so this is going to be interesting. We intend to do some siteseeing, but our main purpose is to take our son to the hospital for stem cell surgery.

4 AnswersPortugal1 decade agoI need a good Portuguese-English pocket dictionary for European Portuguese. Can only find Brazilian.?
We are traveling to Portugal and I want to use a European Portuguese/English dictionary. Recommendations? I went to Barnes and Noble and they only had Brazilian Portuguese dictionaries. When I have looked on Amazon and other web sites, I can't always tell which dictionaries are Brazilian Portuguese. I ordered a couple, and they were neither one what I wanted. Help!

12 AnswersPortugal1 decade agoHas anyone built a roll-in wheechair shower in pre-existing bathroom?
We live in an 80-year-old house with a fairly large bathroom. Our son was injured in an accident and is now quadriplegic. We need to modify the bathroom for rolling shower chair access. Since someone will be in the shower with him, the area needs to be about 5 feet by 5 feet.
My question is about how to manage the drain, what water barrier to put underneath, whether to use tile or a preformed base of some kind, and any other general tips you can provide from your experience. I have searched many websites and have seen many pictures of this type of shower. I am asking for first-hand knowledge about this. Is 5 x 5 reasonable?
Thanks for any info.
