Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

Why do we do it?

Why do we give stars to people whose question is give me a star.

Why do we even bother answering questions like "Can I get 100 answers?"

I will never understand it. . .

I don't understand it either, as if this even matters in the real world. I could care less, I have many more things to occupy my mind than doing something like caring about how many points or stars I get on Yahoo. I won't get into it because , I leave my burdens at the door. It's like all the times on "whose line is it anyway" when Drew Carey always says the points don't matter, just like an air freshener at a Ozzy concert, the points don't matter. I'm glad I'm not alone on that thought.

Because we can, and it gives us points, but I agree with you, it is a waste of a good answer that might actually change someone's life.
