Has anyone any ideas what a good small business to start is? Or any franchises?

    Go to a college town and design a store that is dedicated to college students and their interests. I've been to many schools that have nothing like this. It could be a big hit.

    Something you know about (or know people who know about), plus extensive experience helps, the type depends on your interests surely. Also start up costs, some are expensive to start, others low cost, depends what resources you have.

    look at a local window cleaning round , cash, get to know what people want and gives you flexability to respond to any market. also will give you an insight to running your own show.
