The Apple II was the first real "personal computer"
Today, the term "personal computer" is usually used in reference to machines running Microsoft Windows.
The first mass marketed "personal computer" with a graphical user interface, or GUI, was the Macintosh, in 1984.
The GUI was first pioneered by Xerox at their Palo Alto Research Center, or PARC. Xerox received Apple stock in return for rights to some of the design aspects of their original GUI.
The Macintosh was also the first mass marketed "personal computer" to feature a mouse.
Apple was the first company to use the term "personal computer", which was later trademarked by IBM. A court later stripped IBM of that trademark.
Just a few facts for you.

The term debugging came from the fact that when one of the first computers wasn't working they found the problem was a moth(?) stuck inside.
