Isn't there a third carrier group now heading for the Persian Gulf and . .. .. . . . .?

And only a few months ago, military analysts on both Fox and CNN said that "when you see 3 carrier groups in the Gulf, then you can expect a military strike on Iran ?

Do you remember that ?

What do you make of the 'Operation Bite' story out of Russia ?

Update:

Kelly - I concur with your husband !!

    Here's a Q I haven't heard asked:

Why would we have to "invade" Iran to disable their nuclear weapons program? We could set them back 5 years with about three hours of air strikes.

There are none of the destabilizing Sunni / Shiite / Kurdish sectarian issues as in Iraq. Perhaps most of all, there's far less importance to Iran's contribution to the world's oil supply.

Take out the weapons programs, defend Israel and keep the Middle East stable.

That should be the strategy for Iran.

Carrier groups, or Strategic Action Groups, come to play. They will dominate the sea, top to bottom, and play havoc with power production on shore.Their ability to project power into the target country combined with air superiorty really does close a lot of doors with no open windows for the opposition. One method to counter the American presence is to load explosives A, or conventional, into an aircraft and do a suicide run. The Iranian Tomcat is powerful but parrots what it is.

The fleet will become a death trap for enemy aircraft. But, I understand that the third carrier is just a relief mission. So there won't be a 3rd carrier, but only two 70,000 ton vessels with over 100 aircraft, and five support per ship can all be neutralized by the 27B Russian antiship missile, called the Sizziler. Have nothing for Operation Bite. Something to look up

    I am getting an ulcer!

    Yes I remember that!

My husband tells me I spend to much time on this forum and it's not healthy to worry about something you have no control over.

I think too many citizens think that as well ...that's how we let things get so bad!

    Complacency!

EDIT: What do I make of Russia's leak?

    idk.

Genuine intel they intercepted OR propaganda???

    I guess time will tell!

No. The Nimitz is enroute to relieve one of the carrier groups. One will pass the other as it heads home.

Immaterial - Bush cannot go to war with Iran without Congress - well he could but impeachment for him and Cheney would be swift and merciless. The SCOTUS would have to intervene and the constitution is clear - Congress is the only authority that can say yes/no to war. Bush isn't willing to do that unless he's more unhinged than I already believe he is.
