Did you know it began today?

Even though more than 120,000 caring people voiced their outrage to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the Canadian government has sided with the killers. The hunt of baby seals began today.

While the Canadian government is responsible for allowing the slaughter to resume this year, it's the furriers and their cohorts in the fashion industry who are ultimately profiting the most from the slaughter. It's only by educating both designers and consumers about the true cost of every fur and fur-trimmed item that we can hope to see an end to the killing of seals, minks, foxes, raccoons, and other animals who are murdered for their fur.

NEVER BUY OR WEAR FUR, NOT EVEN THE SMALLEST BIT OF TRIM, and encourage everyone you know to do the same.

Please.

its so horrible I can't think of those beautiful baby white pups

lying in the blood soaked ice, what about their mothers who have tried to rear them in almost impossible conditions.I have a lump in my throat as I type.I understood this had been stopped some years ago, I had no idea the slaughter of the innocents still went on. I am writing to WWF of which I am a member and I urge anyone connected to any animal welfare

group to do the same thing. The murderers and profiteers will of course say we're loonies, they are cruel torturing murderers

Here in the UK it is illegal to farm animals for fur,and rightly so!!! It is considered too cruel, yet companies are allowed to make profits from fur imported from countries where fur farming remains legal. This is unacceptable, and until they stop selling fur, I boycott their shops and encourage others to do the same. I base this on the ethical standpoint that it is unnecessary to cause animal suffering by breeding and trapping animals for fur while many alternatives are available that do not cause cruelty and the taking of animal lives.!!!

surely canadian government have their own scientific reason on why they allowed to do this. i read in the news that it helps to control the overpopulation of the seal thereby helping its healthy existence. Those who were against it says its animal cruelty and threatened the seals population. If this is the case, people should be presented with a clear evidence or fact by both sides that seals population are in danger or not. not only accusing each other of wrongdoing. Both sides should answer each other concern in a scientific way.

I agree, and cannot understand how someone could do this, and how some people would support this barbaric act. Sadly we live in a world where even some mothers would kill her own child for the right price which is unfathomable, we are killing each other in pointless wars, abusing and killing our children, killing our animals for profit and ruining our environment, but once everything is gone (very soon) will they realize they can't eat money.

I agree, this is cruel and barbaric. I do wear fur but its what is called fish-fur and its completely 100% artificial. I only wear it for utility. It hacks me off when I see these vain posh people who 'just have to have' dead animals

    Ever hear of Nimrod?

"Cush became father to Nim′rod. He made the start in becoming a mighty one in the earth. He displayed himself a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah. That is why there is a saying: “Just like Nim′rod a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah.” And the beginning of his kingdom came to be Ba′bel and E′rech and Ac′cad and Cal′neh, in the land of Shi′nar. Out of that land he went forth into As·syr′i·a and set himself to building Nin′e·veh and Re·ho′both-Ir and Ca′lah and Re′sen between Nin′e·veh and Ca′lah: this is the great city." --Genesis 10:8-12

Probably, it was under the direction of Nimrod that the building of Babel and its tower began. This conclusion in agrees with the traditional Jewish view. Josephus [the historian] wrote: “[Nimrod] little by little transformed the state of affairs into a tyranny, holding that the only way to detach men from the fear of God was by making them continuously dependent upon his own power. He threatened to have his revenge on God if He wished to inundate the earth again; for he would build a tower higher than the water could reach and avenge the destruction of their forefathers. The people were eager to follow this advice of [Nimrod], deeming it slavery to submit to God; so they set out to build the tower . . . and it rose with a speed beyond all expectation.”—Jewish Antiquities, I, 114, 115 (iv, 2, 3).

It appears that Nimrod made the start in becoming a mighty one, not only as a hunter of animals but also as a warrior, a man of aggression. (Ge 10:8) The Cyclopaedia by M’Clintock and Strong observes: “That the mighty hunting was not confined to the chase is apparent from its close connection with the building of eight cities. . . . What Nimrod did in the chase as a hunter was the earlier token of what he achieved as a conqueror. For hunting and heroism were of old specially and naturally associated . . . The Assyrian monuments also picture many feats in hunting, and the word is often employed to denote campaigning. . . . The chase and the battle, which in the same country were connected so closely in aftertimes, may therefore be virtually associated or identified here. The meaning then will be, that Nimrod was the first after the flood to found a kingdom, to unite the fragments of scattered patriarchal rule, and consolidate them under himself as sole head and master; and all this in defiance of Jehovah, for it was the violent intrusion of Hamitic power into a Shemitic territory.”—1894, Vol. VII, p. 109.

Because of Nimrod's influence, mankind went from having one language, to having several. God deemed it necessary to split people up.

Just before Nimrod, God had found the violence in the earth so overwhelming that he had brought the Flood.
