What kind of car stereo system is inexpensive but good?

We can only spend under $200. Does anyone have any experience with any particular models?

Update:

Not the entire system, Just the little box part...whatever it's called. Can you tell that I know nothing about this?

Update 2:

Um, by little box part I mean the little box that goes inside the dashboard. Someone said not to get Sony. What's wrong with sony? I thought they were supposed to be a good brand?

I wouldnt go with Sony, Dual, Audiovox, Jensen, or Pioneer/Premier.

Pioneer/Premier's are iffy. 75% of all Pioneer/Premier CD players have bad grounding planes on their rca ouputs. Meaning, they aren't grounded good enough and they will have ground noise problems. This is easily fixable (if you know what you are doing) but for a beginner, don't waste your time by having to go back for an exchange.

I personally like Alpine head units. They offer good sound quality and decent features for the price.

What I suggest though, is to find the specific model # you want based on the featuresyou want, then shop around for the lowest price.

    Good Luck!

I know on ebay I just brought 2 visonik 12" subs in a box and a 400 watt amp with a wiring kit (need to buy a better higher gauge wiring for full power) for around $110 shipped to hawaii, I haven't hooked it up yet but by some reviews I read it's supposed to be a bang for the buck if you know what I mean. You can then search for speakers and a real cheap, used if you want, stereo deck.

If you're looking for an entire system, i.e. head unit, wires, speakers, amplifiers, subwoofers, etc... you're out of luck. That isn't nearly a big enough budget.

What components of a system are you looking for?

    EDIT

Little box part? Yes I can tell you know nothing about his... lol!. I assume you mean subwoofers. $200 will get you a decent subwoofer or two and a box. A pair of these would serve you nicely for that price. But keep in mind this doesn't include the cost of an amplifier to power them, or the wiring. http://cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-TS-W307D4-1200W-12-Sub...

ok, if like the other person said you are lookin for all that stuff, get wlamart brand- durabrand. haha thats a joke... DONT GET IT! also avoid sony. id suggest either staying stock or getting a headunit first and slowly getting things. go to crutchfield or www.sonicelectronix.com and take a look. i have a kenwood kdc-mp4032 and i love it. after the HU you need to get speakers all around or you may blow the stock ones. if your still lookin cheap, go to walmart and get some Pioneers. you can leave the tweeters stock though. then from there get an amplifier (id say from sonicelectronix as they are fast shippers and very cheap price). then go to wally world again and get schosch wiring kit (~$30) and from there look around for some subs or anything. if you really need to go cheap, go with the wally world pioneer (NOT SONY). otherwise get some kickers or something similiar. hell, splurge and get some alpine type r's :D

When I was in high school Honda Accords and Civics were really popular, Also Mustangs and Jeeps were the norm. If you couldn't afford that then you were probably on the bus. Which was not cool at all.
