Pay $900 to Korean elderly who never paid taxes & don't speak a word of English?

Why does US government pay social security(around $900/month) plus senior apartment discount plus free medical care to Korean eldery people who came here 2 years ago who never worked & paid any taxes and don't speak a word of English? Why do they deserve these benefits?

Update:

Then why do we deport illegal aliens from Mexico? They are human too.

Update 2:

I agree. If the person brough his/her elderly parents to America, then he/she has obligation to take care of him/her espcially when they did not contribute anything to our society and at the same time they make ton of money from their businesses(liquor stores, dry cleaners, Korean restaurants etcetera).

James.... Please think before posting a garbage like this.

When the elderly man buys a pack of Marlboro, does he refuse to pay the State Sales Tax? And how about the City or County Tobacco Tax?

When the elderly man buys a house, does he refuse to pay the Property Tax? Or the Sales Tax on the new house?

Let's say he never filed for Income Tax since you probably think that's the only tax that exists in the USA. Since his earnings are not reported, it shows as employer's profit. His employer will have to pay significantly higher tax since IRS will think the business made more money.

Moreover, anyone who does not speak English must have lived in the US for at least 15 years to become a US citizen and receive these benefits. He and his past employers have paid his share of taxes.

Since I don't know the details of the people, I cant judge the action of the government. Perhaps if you had posted a link or something I could make a judgment call on this. If you don't know all the details then neither should you. All old people get a senior discount on things. But I cant give an opinion on this without knowing all the facts.

The US economy would be just fine if all the illegal aliens from all nations were deported.

Amnesty will destroy our entitlement programs.

Moody you are very wrong,Americans of all colors and races are against illegal aliens.

    .

People should not depend upon Social Security as a retirement plan. You cant live on SS alone. Start a 401 K at work or invest your savings wisely or you too may be eating dog food like some of the poor elderly.

    Stop stereotyping Korean people.

  • If everyone that received Social Security benefits actually had paid into the program, then we wouldn't be in such trouble with the program, would we?

If their families brought them over, and they paid into the program, then they have the right to get some sort of benefits for them. It is the way the rules read.

And if you are so concerned about where the money is going, then why not look at the MILLIONS that receive benefits that are American Citizens and haven't paid into the program. And then there are those pesky illegal aliens in this country. . . Can't have it both ways. Either someone is here legally and can receive benefits or not. This should go for someone entering the US and those born here. If there are strict boundaries set, then the program of Social Security would be in much better shape. But to simply say that someone of another nationality that hasn't paid in can't receive benefits just because, even though their families did, isn't very fair. That is the functioning of Social Security, and that has been the way it has always operated.

If you have the answer, send it up to DC. And please do it before I retire so I can get back some of the benefits I paid all these years for. . .

There are loopholes in our social security and safety nets, mostly set up by elected Democrat politicians.

One of these is the Social Security for Immigrants program, which is very deceptive since it is called SSI, just like regular US American Social Security Insurance which was set up for ONLY US citizens and which we, who work legally in the USA pay for, and retire on if we don't have retirement plans.

Personally I don't believe anyone should be able to collect any social security if they didn't pay into it, and I don't think any illegal aliens should be collecting any SSI, disablity, workers compensation, welfare of any kind, including food stamps, medical care, HUD housing, WIC, prenatal care, free lunch program, public defender, free child care, free legal services, or free immigration services. All of these are handed out to illegal aliens, and they don't pay any taxes into our system to deserve to draw off of it.

  • Why are American Citizens denied social security benefits when they paid into the system all their working lives? Why do we have homeless Veterans who fought honorably for our country? Why are American Citizens cheated out of credit for all the social security contributions they paid into the system prior to their 21st birthday? These Koreans don't deserve these benefits. We need to take care of Americans first and foremost. It is treason, in my opinion to give illegal immgirants and foreign nationals social security when they haven't paid into the system at all. We need to take our country back and since Easter is a time of resurrection -- I say lets resurrect the involvement of American people in their government and let's resurrect the enforcement of all our laws and let's resurrect the morals and ethics of our country. Let's give back to law-abiding American Citizens and take away from Illegal immigrants and their supporters!

That's a very good question- if this is the case (what you are describing, then I am enraged! I pay taxes since I started working at age 21 and I bet by the time I retire there won't be any money left for me and my peers!

Children who brought their parents should pay for everything. You are absolutely correct in your observation. I cannot believe US government is letting this happen. It's ludicrous.

All my Korean friend's elderly parents get these benefits. I don't understand why US government is doing this. I think US government should re-consider this policy.

And yet they claim legalization would 'help save' rather than swamp our social security system faster, once the new 'legals' were able to bring in indigent parents...

    they should not do this.

I believe that she has family here and since they brought her here, they should take care of her.

She has never contributed to our society, and has no value to contribute and no potential to contribute.

This burns me when i hear things like this.

And after doing nothing but taking from us, they want more rights because they refuse to fit in to our society.

We should start making immigrants pay us for the right to come here. They do it in Mexico, but as you see not one single Mexican has offered to help us. We should change our immigration laws immediately
