how many people actually believe the true biblical account of the 'Great Flood' and creation fo the earth?

In the old Pagan religions, "water was the source of life", without it their fields, live stock and themselves would die; so naturally water would be the source of creation stories of any religion. Religious christian people have been using parts of science (or cherry pick) research to prove that the great flood/ or any other story that fits into their bible beliefs. People who claimed they found Noah's ark, have not giving any real evidence, (the sources 2004-Sept, the evidence was fake) and they been searching for over 40+ years at the same place.

The bible is a fairytale and given time, history will repeat itself, and the judo-christian (middle eastern) religion will fade, & a new religion will emerge, I just hope that when the new religion comes about, it won't be close minded.

I have watched T.V. programs on the History Channel, the Learning Channel even A.B.C. news Special that have scientific evidence that a flood did happen. Did you know that many cultures around the world have written accounts of a great flood? Not just the Christian faith! There are water rings on the rocks and mountains. How did the water rings get there? How did Native American Indians know about the same flood that the people in the Holy Land knew. America was not well traveled . Many cultures have the same story about a man who collects the animals 2 by 2 and his family the mans name is different the area of the world is different. Please do some research in this matter I think you'll find this fascinating.

No hard archaeological evidence...how do you think the Grand Canyon got there? And please don't give me this story about the trickle known as the Colorado River.

Another thing you might want to consider: many different cultures who had no contact with each other have stories about some sort of great flood where one man and his family and animals survived by various means (some cultures say in a boat, some on the back of a giant turtle, etc). These stories are found in cultures such as American Indian, African, and Pacific Islander. If this event never occurred, it seems pretty coincidental that all these unrelated cultures have virtually the same story.

I have answered this many times, In the beginning there was no oceans & at the end of the milliennium there will be no more oceans. Gen. 1:10 They were called SEAS, which is smaller then a Ocean, All the waters from the flood went into the lower valleys on earth causing there to be Oceans, & yes, The more sceince tries to disprove creation or even the flood, The more they are without words, Did your sciencetists forget to tell you that they have dug up palm leaves in the North & South Pole regions, I wonder why they did not tell you?

Faith. Something you cannot see, you don't have any proof. It is something that people lean on because we are so small, I believe in God with all my heart. And yes, I do believe the flood occurred. You can't pick away at the bible. It is either all true or not. It is not a fairy tale, nor a fable, or an entertaining book to read. It is only inspirational to those who believe in God, trust that he loves you, and died for you. The reason you find it fake, and "unrealistic", is that you don't have Jesus as your savior. So to answer your question, yes, I do believe in something that no one can prove and no one can see. But having faith is one of the strongest measures of character. It is being able to rely on something (someone) that isn't right in front of you. It shows others that you are not afraid to stand up for what you believe and you know that you have a rock to lean on and even when your life sucks and you think there is nothing that can help you, God's there holding your hand. I am Christian (Roman Catholic). We are not taught that evolution and creation are two opposing ideas. Science and religion in the 21st century are two different ideas and it is very good that we have both. Before i get into a totally different topic, i will tell you that as concerns the flood, i worked contraction in Colorado in the Rocky Mountains and it is not unusual to find fossilized sea life in the Rockies. That may not be conclusive proof of the Great Flood, but the Rockies were definitely underwater in some prehistoric time.

I believe it the evidence is the book it self the pictures of jesus is another some one saw what he look like, another is holy grail, the towel that he wiped hes face on before he died that another way they knew what he looked like some how when he wiped hes face on the towel it reflected hes image. There a bunch of evidence according to modern science today. And the flood is also known as an ice age once the flood froze.

This is the Church's teaching on the matter after twenty centuries of Christian discernment.

Biblical inerrancy, then, is the Bible's privilege of never teaching error. Does this mean that every statement in the Bible is divine teaching? Of course not. The Bible does not always teach. There are many statements in its various books that are there for historical, geographical, poetic or other reasons. However, whenever a biblical author intends to teach us something, then the Holy Spirit intends that too. Everything that the Bible teaches is without error, but everything in the Bible is not meant as teaching. Each author was left free by the Lord to express himself according to the ideas of his own day. It is the revelation contained in the Scriptures that is important.

There are many accounts in the Bible, which employ a literary device used by Jewish Old and New Testament writers called Midrash. Midrash is the substantive of the Hebrew word darash which means to search, to investigate, to study and, also, to expound on the fruits of the research. The aim of Midrash is to draw from Scripture a lesson for the present.

Midrash could also be defined as a "reflection on Scripture in the light of the actual situation of God's people and of the developments of God's action on its history. It proposes to explain the meaning of Scripture in the light of the later historical experience of God's people. This kind of interpretation often opened the door to embellishments of the sacred accounts, anachronisms, and a freedom in handling and maneuvering the data of tradition that were at times a little too candid and certainly very imaginative."

A good example is the Midrashic story of Noah and the flood. It is the divine message, which is important, (God saves his children from evil) not the literal account of the story.
