What is the relationship between a linear equation and graph? Why is the graph important? What does it show?
I have to answer these questions about graphs in general.. not any one particular graph.
What is the relationship between a linear equation and its graph? Why is the graph important? What does it show?
Thanks in advance for any help!
I know that the variables in the equation are represented on the graph... I'm trying to figure out how to word it so it makes sense.
I know all the parts of a graph, I know how to plot points on a graph... The above questions are ones I have to answer in written form. In other words I have to write a PARAGRAPH about how the equation relates to the graph... All I have so far is "A graph shows the relationship between the variables in an equation."
I know there's more to it that that, I just don't know how to word it. I know how to do the equation, I just don't know how to write about it!

The graph is a visual statement expressing the values of the variables and the line represents the change in value.

It's quite simple, a perfect graph isn't a type of graph, it's just what it is referred to when it is correctly labeled. Your title would be descriptive, and would apply correctly to the data being graphed. On the axes, you must have the dependent and independent variable in the proper location. (Independent variable is typically along the x-axis, and the dependent variable is typically along the y-axis) You must also label them "x" and "y". The proper scale means that the increments of the numbers increase by a common multiple. (Ex. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10... not 2, 4, 7, 9, 10...) The line of best fit is a straight diagonal line that you draw when the points you plotted are not linear. The line is used to make a comparison or observation, and you typically draw it so that there is an equal number of points on either side of it, and so that it passes through as many points as possible.

OK for A line you have an equation of power 1. So you
simply chose some values for x and find y and in reveres.
For a graph like par bola equation is to the power of 2 so
U get 2 values for x or y. More points that cause the
graph change direction depending on the power.
Well your job will be to solve the equation and find x or y
then graph that for different values of x, or y. The graph is
drawn on x and y axis with for area, x and y positive
x positive y negative , x negative y positive , and x , y
negative.

The usual terminology for a linear equation is: y=mx+c
The graph will have the y axis vertical and the x axis horizontal.
The value of m is called the gradient, i.e. how steep the graph is. The steeper the graph the higher m is.
c will show the point on the y axis where the graph crosses, i.e. when x =0 (c can be a negative value)
