I Need Help With Math Work And Scientific Notations and standard form?
Ok I really Need some Help With My Math Homework Please help me This is how it goes
Write the numbers in scientific notation:
0.68004
8,259
6,552.09
0.00004051
2,001,600
0.00000711
8,000,000
Write these numbers in standard form:
5.69836 x 10 (raised to the negative three power )
2.4 x 10 (raised to the eight power)
9.505 x 10 (raised to the sixth power)
3.0048 x 10 (raised to the negative seven power)
5.284 x 10 ( raised to the fifth power)
1.00847 x 10 (raised to the negative four power)
7.22 x 10 (raised to the second power)

I'm not going to do all of these for you, but I'll get you started...
Remember that Sci Not requires that you have a number between 1 and 10 TIMES 10 to some power.
0.68004
To rewrite this into a number between 1 and 10, it would be
6.8004
now, how many places did you move the decimal point to get that number? (1)
Is the original number greater than 1 or smaller than 1? (Smaller - which means you want the exponent to be a negative number)
So, the answer is
6.8004 x 10^(-1)
8,259
1) Make it a number between 1 and 10... (8.259)
2) How many decimal places did you move? (3)
3) Is the original number bigger than 1 or smaller? (Bigger, so the exponent is positive.)
8259 = 8.259 x 10^3
===========
Ok, now working backwards...
5.69836 x 10^(-3)
The negative 3 means you want a number SMALLER than 1 (so, it'll be 0.xxxxx), so that means you'll move the decimal to the LEFT. You move it left THREE PLACES because that's the exponent.
So, you get...
0.00569836
2.4 x 10^(8)
Now, this exponent is positive, so you are going to get a number LARGER than 1. Move the decimal 8 places to the RIGHT.

Write the numbers in scientific notation:
0.68004 -- 6.8004 x 10 (-1)
8,259 -- 8.259 x 10 (3)
6,552.09 -- 6.55209 x 10 (3)
0.00004051 -- 4.051 x 10 (-5)
2,001,600 -- 2.0016 x 10 (6)
0.00000711 -- 7.11 x 10 (-6)
8,000,000 -- 8.0 x 10 (6)
Write these numbers in standard form:
5.69836 x 10 (raised to the negative three power ) -- .00569836
2.4 x 10 (raised to the eight power) – 240,000,000
9.505 x 10 (raised to the sixth power) – 9,505,000
3.0048 x 10 (raised to the negative seven power) -- .00000030048
5.284 x 10 ( raised to the fifth power) – 528,400
1.00847 x 10 (raised to the negative four power) -- .000100847
7.22 x 10 (raised to the second power) -- 722
Just move the decimal either to the right or the left depending on the number they give you. For example, if the power of 10 is like, -4, then move the decimal four places to the left, and if the power of ten is 4, then move the decimal 4 places to the right.
Its not that hard ...

0.68004 = 6.8004 x 10^-1
8,259= 8.259 x 10^3
6,552.09= 6.55209 x 10^3
0.00004051= 4.051 x 10^-5
2,001,600= 2.0016 x 10^6
0.00000711 = 7.11 x 10^-6
8,000,000 = 8 x 10^6
5.69836 x 10 (raised to the negative three power )= 0.00569836
2.4 x 10 (raised to the eight power)= 240,000,000
9.505 x 10 (raised to the sixth power)=9,505,000

7.22 x 10 (raised to the second power)=722

As far as I'm aware standard form and scientific notation mean the same thing, which is that there is a single non zero integer, then a decimal point, then the remaining digits, then a multiplier which is 10 raised to some power. Index form is probably the same thing too but I guess it might also include things like 12 x 10^3 which is not in standard form (1.2 x 10^4 ) but it is still using indexes rather than writing out the whole number. This would be the sort of number you might get mid calculation while combining standard form numbers.

ok.. 1st things first.. i'll do the first one: 0.68004
i havnt done this 4 a yr but here it goes:
scientific notation is written ^something or x10^sumthing.
it is a shorthand way of writing things...
eg. 0.68004
would be written as 6.8004x10^-1 because you have to move the decimal left 1 time.
ok.. no. 2;
8,259:
which is 8259.0 in decimal.. can be written as:
8.259x10^3 because we move the decimal left 3 places
6552.09
is 6.55209^3 because we moved the decimal left three places
0.00004051= 4.051^-5
and..
2,001,600 is 2.0016^6
0.00000711is 7.11^-6
you do the last one .. its EASY
now for the standard form:
5.69836 x 10^-3 move the decimal left 3 places (because you wouldv had to move it right to get a NEG 3) so ='s 0.00569836
2.4 x 10^8 which meens move the decimal right 8 places because you wouldv had to move in left in order to get a positive... = 240000000
9.505 x 10^6 =
9505000
3.0048 x 10^-7= 0.00000030048
ok now i got u started you can do the rest theyre easy.. how do i get the fealing this is homework.. lol

0.68004 = 6.8004 X 10
6,552.09 = 6.55209 X 10^3
0.00000711 = 7.11 X 10^-6
5.69836 x 10^-3 = .00569836
2.4 x 10^8 = 240,000,000
you can do the rest
