why is new young and old old?

why is it when a baby is born it is young, and if your talking about an 87 year old youd say there old. but when talking about a t.v for example if youve had it for a day its new but if youve had it for a year its old. how come the old stays the same irrespective of context but the new changes to young when talking about humans or animals

Young is new. Old is used. Dead is dead.

It's the way the language is spoken. Perhaps it's different in some languages. English is not perfect, otherwise we couldn't saw that he chopped the tree down, then he chopped it up. It sounds like he's back where he started.

There are so many things in this to worry about in this world, exact wording should be way down on the list.

simple technology changes so fast that something you just bought could be outdated in a couple months and therefore old

as for people I have a good experiment for you....buy a fresh ripe peach ....take it home and set it on your table ....leave it there for a month....after a month go buy another peach and set it beside the other one ......tell me what one would be old...

but it sounds to me that you just bought a tv last year and now one of your friends called it old and oyur having tv envy

and old people are never truely old.....everyone I have ever met seems to think they are young....everyone thinks alike....some people just have more knowledge

Probably demonstrates a generally ageist attitude in the English speaking world.

Because we associate new things with progress and development. Old things are unsightly and need to be replaced by something newer and brighter. Usually more expensive. I suspect it is a ploy to extract money from you.
