What kind of things can a president be impeached for?

Andrew Johnson was basically impeached for firing a cabinet member and replacing him without congress approval. He was not convicted, however.

Bill Clinton was impeached for perjury, obstruction of justice, and they failed to impeach for perjury pertaining to Paula Jones and abuse of power. Which, of course, he was not convicted of any of the charges.

the constitution says "treason, bribery, high crimes or misdemeanors,' but this phrase is so ambiguous that it is often rare that no president has ever been convicted. different people have different standards.

The president can essentially be impeached for any criminal act that Congress feels is dangerous to the safety of the state.

It seems that Congress won't impeach a president they like, however, no matter how often he violates the Constitution.

Relax, but keep looking. I think you would actually find an impeachable offense that GW has committed SOONER than the fruit cakes come up with any PROOF of their 9/11 conspiracy.

Treason, high crimes and misdemeanors. This is what the Constitutions says.
