Wladimir Klitschko vs. Rocky Marciano? Wladimir Klitschko vs. Joe Louis?
I also want Marciano against Dempsey evaluated and Louis against Dempsey evaluated.
Ring magazine has Louis with the number one punch. I don't agree with that. Dempsey at number 7. I don't agree with that and Marciano at number 14. I will conceed to Brad in that Marciano may not have the punch I thought he had. Look at the whole package of Marciano however when looking at these fights.
Rank your top ten fighters in the heavyweight division all time. Please don't rank todays heavyweights I don't want to be depressed today.
5 part question. I think you guys and gals can handle it.
Thanks to all answerers ahead of time.

This is a great question! You know I really don't think Joe Louis had the best punch. He was a great fighter but he didn't have the greatest punch. The German Max Schmeling beat the **** out of Joe Louis and handed him the first loss of his career. (you can watch the video on youtube) Wladimir Klitschko is a fantastic boxer with a professional boxing record better than Muhammed Ali, as well as having more knockouts than Ali. I don't belive Ali was the greatest of all time, how can you say that when he lost fights while Marciano never lost a fight in his career? I bet Marciano is the greatest of all time and would have showed Ali the mat. Marciano would beat Klitschko and Ali.

Being fair to Klitschko he has been dominant over the recent heavyweight division and he is a good boxer with a hard punch, but if we are honest he doesn't have the greatest chin; Corrie Sanders, Ross Puritty and Lamon Brewster all stopped him and Sam Peter knocked him down and they don't come close to being as great as the five mentioned in your question. vs mike tyson: Tyson KO2. vs joe louis: Louis KO4. vs rocky marciano: Klitschko WUD15, Marciano would be too small. However if Marciano was bigger I would pick him by early KO. vs muhammad ali; Ali WUD15. vs george foreman: Foreman KO4.

Good question or questions sir! I believe that Rocky Marciano had a punch as powerful as anyone that ever lived as witnessed by the Suzy Q right hand he hit Walcott with in their first fight and he would have battered and beat Klitschko around the ring and finally caught him with his famed Suzy Q right hand in round 8. Joe Louis also had a very powerful punch and anyone that disputes that needs to look at what he done to Schemeling in 1938 in one round. I believe that The Brown Bomber Joe Louis totally dominates Klitschko hitting him with devastating power shots and also knocking him out in the 8th round of a one sided fight. Dempsey vs Marciano would have really been something to see with two of the most brutal punchers in heavyweight history. Nobody was tougher than Rocky including The Manassa Mauler Jack Dempsey. In this fight I see both men taking turns battering each other around the ring in a terrific fight. I have Marciano winning by TKO in round 13. This would have been a fight of wills with Marciano prevailing with his superior conditioning. Also regarding Dempsey's power, take a good look at the damage he done to Willard's face. Louis vs Dempsey would have obviously been a classic matchup. I believe that Dempsey would floor Louis early in the fight with Louis coming back behind his superior boxing ability and great jab. I believe that Dempsey would hang on till the end with Louis gaining the decision victory. There have been many great punchers in heavyweight history. My top 10 in no particular order as they all had tremendous power are as follows:
Rocky Marciano
Earnie Shavers
Sonny Liston
George Foreman
Joe Frazier
Jack Dempsey
Joe Louis
Max Baer
Mike Tyson
Bob Satterfield
My top 10 heavyweight of all time are as follows:
1. Rocky Marciano
2. Joe Louis
3. Muhammad Ali
4. Gene Tunney
5. Jack Johnson
6. George Foreman
7. Larry Holmes
8. Joe Frazier
9. Jack Dempsey
10. Evander Holyfield
Thanks for the great question Keith.

Klitschko vs Marciano I can't truly give an answer to, I would pick Klitschko just for being so much bigger than him, vs Louis I would pick Louis because of his great jab and athleticism(in his prime)

well considering the champs from the past only weighed around 200 pounds and wasn't really tall fighter i can't see either one of them beating klitschko, i feel he's to tall and powerful for the champs of the past and even though in those days they were considered hard punchers i don't think their power would be such a big issue nowadays. even the great mike tyson and ali would have a rough time fighting these bigger and taller fighters i guaratee if mike tyson fought anyone of these heavyweights nowadays that weigh 230 and under he'll still destroy them but these guys are to tall and bigs right now.they need a super heavyweight class soon

Actually, I don't put much stock in Ring Magazine rankings.
To try and compare boxers from different eras is silly.
Boxing went from fighting 1-50+ rounds in the 1800's - early 1900's,
Then 15 rounds and now 12.
Personally, ANYONE who can box for 20+ rounds, has my vote ANYDAY.

Sorry but I don't think Wlad has the intangibles or the chin to beat any of those fighters. Wlad lost to Ross Purity, Corrie Sanders and Brewster. Those are journeyman level fighters

theres no comparison, boxing is totally dif from the 19/20th century.
