Most of us want our children to have better than we had/have and we want them to be law-abiding citizens and good examples to the world. How can illegal immigrants from any country be considered good examples to anyone? They are great examples of organized crime, lawlessness, lack of morals and ethics, a willingness to help others break laws and continue the lack of morals and ethics that is spiraling out of control. A recent newspaper article datelined El Paso, Texas stated: "For all the tough talk out of Washington on immigration, illegal immigrants caught along the Mexican border have almost no reason to fear they will be prosecuted. Ninety-eight percent of those arrested between Oct. 1, 2000, and Sept. 30, 2005, were never prosecuted for illegally entering the country, according to an Associated Press analysis of federal data. Nearly 5.3 million immigrants were simply escorted back across the Rio Grande and turned loose. Many presumably tried to slip into the U.S. again. The prosecution rate was just under 1 percent in 2001." So now where are the prosecution statistics for American Citizens? I bet you'll find the prosecution rate for minor crimes committed by American Citizens and law-abiding immigrants is probably closer to 100%. Meanwhile cameras at the border show illegal immigrants rushing the border and getting through because our border patrol is being prosecuted when they enforce the law.

You are an American Citizen. This is your Country too. We need to stand together as American Citizens to stop this madness and proliferation of lawlessness. We need to get a handle on the illegal immigration and that doesn't include any form of amnesty whatsoever. We need to mobilize our National Guard and have our citizens join "a well-regulated militia" for the purpose of enforcing our laws and defending our country from all enemies foreign and domestic. That's the only way we will get a handle on 12-20 million lawbreakers currently residing in the country and that's the only way we're going to stop more from charging our borders. George W. Bush and the rest of the Government have openly admitted that they can't enforce the laws against 12-20 million illegal immigrants but they have not declined to enforce the laws against American Citizens who to have the right to have their laws enforced and have the right to expect members of our government to uphold their oathes of office and uphold the laws of the land.

I wish the way you say of illegal Mexicans cut through the fence or swam the Rio grande or dug a hole or overstayed a visa or came in the trunk of a car or was smuggled in through an inner tube of a car or well you get the idea. Would be as easy as it looks the majority of them pay $10,000 per head to the coyotes, live their family and kids behind. Many of them never make it through the desert because of the heat, dehydration, cold and injury. So its not as easy as how you state it. Personally if I would be an individual living in Mexico, Central or South America. living in my native country and my economic situation is not that good, I would never try to cross, I would rather eat beans and rice everyday, than to risk my life, live my family behind, and come to a country which I'm not welcome, and get treated like trash, and with not assurance that i will ever make it. The point of all of this is that those Mexicans (your ancestors) were allowed to stay after the war, and none of these new immigrants are that lucky. In fact most illegal immigrants will never qualify to come legally for the very reason that they want to....Lack of money.

You are right - there are both Americans and Mexicans (some, not all) that make blanket assumptions, which is the worst thing to do. I try not to see nationality or race, only legal or illegal status. Citizens are citizens - regardless of heritage.
