I've actually been confused about the way months are counted as well. (And I teach math.) It certainly seems easiest to simply divide by four weeks. 40 weeks divided by 4 would equal 10 "period months". For a 9-month pregnancy, you obviously have a few weeks that don't fit into 4-week intervals. I have seen some pregnancy journals or magazines that count the first 6 weeks as Month 1. The 9th month is usually 36 weeks until delivery (So some people may spend 5 or 6 weeks in their ninth month, where others only spend 4 weeks in their 9th month... depending on if they deliver late.)
My suggestion: play it safe and say you are " IN your 6th month" or you could say you are "still completing 6 months." It's too bad that so many people wrote in trying to make you feel dumb. If you simply divide by 4 weeks, you would have to tell people you were 10 months pregnant for the last few weeks...or else you could be 9 months pregnant for 6-8 weeks. I know it just doesn't add up, does it?

There's about 40 weeks in a pregnancy which sounds like 10 months right? But pregnancies are 9 months so 24 weeks doesn't really mean 6 months. Count from the day you conceived and just go by months. Like if you got pregnant on Nov. 1st and today is Apr. 10th I would say you're 5 months and 5 days prego. After reading some of the answers it sounds like some other people need to brush up on math education, not you. There aren't only 4 weeks in 1 month. Some have 29 days, some 30, some 31. Duh to the ones who treated you like a moron.

Simple. 6 months pregnant. Congratulations! Here's how we answerers got it:
In 1 month, there are 4 weeks. So, if you are going to convert 24 months into weeks, divide 24 by 4 since 4 weeks is 1 month. 24 divided by 4 is 6. So there it is! As easy as that. Hope you got it. Good luck with the kid!!! ^__^

There are 4 weeks in every month, therefore you are 6 months pregnant. Congratulations!
