Apple users: Why does iTunes spontaneously restart?

I have an apple with osx and itunes 7. When I close iTunes it will restart itself within a minute. I have tried to force-quit, but then it restarts within one second. Any idea why this is happening?

my fellow mac user, i have not personally had this problem but have heard of a similar case. ensure you have all your apple updates installed and up-to-date i believe a apple fix was part of the updates. it was a glitch that occured not in all cases but a fix was deployed fairly promptly to fix this. well this was the word on some of the mac chat forums.

Run Software Update from System Preferences and install any that you think you might need. Trashing iTunes preference file and even a reboot, shut off not restart, might help. Maybe even booting to Safe Mode might help too. I'm one of the Mac users that hasn't seen this either. Oh yeah, create a test user account and see if iTunes is still restarting there. If it doesn't, there might be something wrong with your user account.

Throw away the iTunes preferences file and restart. OSX will automatically recreate the preferences file as an original copy.
