Self-Contained Portable PA System......Which is the better deal? And Why?

Could someone please check these two out & tell me which is

the better deal for the money? Which will serve me better for the long haul? I assume it's the more expensive one.

I am doing an outside wedding to a guest attendance of 70-100 and have 2 larger indoor weddings that have a guest attendance of about 200, neither place having sound.

I need something portable, AC/DC, lightweight, something powerful enough to operate a single mic that not only hears me but the bride & groom as well in case the groom doesn't want to wear a mic; and also opearte a CD player at the same time.

Please explain it so the I understand. I don't get watts & ohms or Hzs

Update:

Sorry, this was suppose to be in the general electronics. How it changed, I don't know.

The Peavey Escort system recommended in the first post is excellent for speeches, but not very good for music. It does OK for music but does not have any bass, so music sounds pretty flat on the Peavey Escort.

Forget trying to find a DC powered PA system, the only thing that would be loud enough outside would be a bull horn.

The B-52 Matrix 1000 V2 is the ideal system for your scenario.

    Quality Budget Sound System

For parties of 100 people go with the Matrix-1000 V2 system. People who have used these systems for house parties (there are many) have hugely positive reviews of the results. You won't have to worry about finding a sub to match with it, as it is already a perfectly matched set. It will be plenty for house parties, and I've heard no complaints of problems when pushed hard, so you won't have to be concerned about anything smoking if you push the gain past half. For a house party, you will not find your self wishing you had more bass. Also, extremely portable and easy / fast to set up. Don't be worried about the small satellites, as you do not need big woofers for 120 Hz and above.

The best choices (of a similarly set up system for each) would be:

    1) QSC $2,600

    subwoofer

    satellite speakers

    2) Mackie $2,080

    subwoofer

    satellite speakers

    3) B-52 $850

    subwoofer & satellite speakers

    http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/product/buy_b52_m...

If you can afford the QSC system get the QSC system because it is the loudest & the highest quality in sound & build, but it is also the most expensive.

The Mackie system is better than the B-52 system, but at that price you are better off saving a little more money & buying the QSC system.

The B-52 system is by far the cheapest, plus it's the easiest. There are cheaper similarly set up systems, but they are of lower sound quality, lower build quality & lower reliability, they are not worth the money. The B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 is the best buy for a low budget. But even though it's a budget system the Matrix-1000 V2 is a banging system that's loud, clear & has hard hitting bass.

    B-52 MATRIX-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System $849.99

    http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/product/buy_b52_m...

"A complete sound reinforcement solution. The B-52 MATRIX-1000 V2 Speaker System includes two 10" two-way powered satellites and a dedicated powered 15" subwoofer. The MATRIX-1000 V2 has a built-in three-channel 700-watt power amplifier, three distinct volume controls, electronic crossover with equalization and VCA compressor."

"The circuitry is designed and fine-tuned to integrate all components for the best possible sound. There is no need to tweak or finesse settings on a crossover or compressor to make your system sound great. Simply roll the system into place on its heavy duty casters, plug in the AC, connect the two speaker cables, run two XLR cables to your mixer and you're ready to go."

If this is going to be a one time deal for you, rent one the three portable PA systems I listed. (QSC, Mackie, or B-52.)

When using a microphone keep in mind that feed back between the microphone & speaker will cause a loud squealing to occur.

With he type of venues you describe, both systems would be seriously underpowered. If you want to use as a source for music a mic input or 2 and to have some control of mixing tracks together(so the music never dies) you want the system I use. Get two CD or DVD players to play you music and this should be powerful enough to meet you needs. The ratings given on the systems you indicated are not worth much. I have be most happy with it and people are always asking to borrow or rent it. It is not DC but with a good long extension cord and a good power center you will be golden. Don't forget high quality interconnects.

Yes. It is possible and happens daily in all our lives. •Intuition •Mediums •Telepathy All the known "psychic" things you hear and categorize under such. All those are the higher consciousness' way of presenting itself in the "waking" state. You, as a spirit have 3 levels of consciousness: •Consciousness (physical body) •Subconsciousness (soul) •Superconsciousness (spirit level, we are one with the Whole. At this level, we are on a conscious level with all there is - the divine). They all at some point in our lives, interfere; lead us in a direction we had NO idea why. Our mind (physical) had no idea WHY we chose that. Or why we didn't go to work the day there was a 20 car pile up on the expressway. What's really fascinating is déjà vu . Where your "dreaming self" interferes with the "waking self" and the "waking self" realizes it was from the "dreaming" state of consciousness. Light and L☼ve!
