Please help me! Weight...?

Okay, in my first question I said I was going to diet by eating fruits and veggies throughout the day, and then have a normal dinner.

Today didn't go as I planned, but it's a start.

I didn't have any fruits or veggies available to me! I skipped breakfast and lunch (bad, I know) but when I got home from school I had a Lean Cuisine meal.

I am still starving, so I caved in and I am also going to eat what my mom is making. She is making GRILLED chicken with frozen veggies on the side.

And to drink, I have had Sweetened Iced tea and will have that for dinner, too.

What changes can I make that will help me lose weight faster or help me make this diet healthier? (please, no drastic changes. maybe things like a different drink or maybe you could tell me the best fruits and veggies to eat)

Update:

On the iced tea, I meant I'll have it WITH dinner! Not for dinner!

Update 2:

I forgot to add, I am thirteen.

I've been doing Weight Watchers for a couple months now, and if I had to suggest a few tips or hints to lose weight without going to the gym 6 times a week and eating rabbit food all the time, here they are:

    1. Learn to feel what full is. Many people think that they have to have that STUFFED feeling to feel full. If you eat slower and chew more as 15-20 mintues goes by, you will get that feeling of fullness.

    2. Don't feel that you have to "finish your plate" just because it's what we were taught as children. Learn that full feeling in #1 and ditch the rest. I have a quote that I live by now, "It's better in the waste than on the waist." :)

    3. Drink lots of water. Have a water bottle with you at all times. Make sure it's small enough to fit in your purse, so when you're at work, shopping, driving or whatever, you always have that water by you. Drink at least 6-8 glasses (48-64 oz.) a day. Drinking water can speed up weight loss.

    4. Exercise. I know, I know. This is very redundant. No "diet" is good enough without exercising. You might lose weight, but the exercise to help you become healthy. For beginners, just try 30 minutes a day. Or 3-10 minute periods. Go for a walk. Walk the dog. Walk in place. You don't need special equipment or a gym membership. Exercise will really bump up weight loss.

    5. Round out your diet with not just fruits and veggies, but get in dairy (at least 2 servings a day), proteins, whole grains, a multivitamin and healthy oils like canola or safflower.

    6. If you can't do all these things at one time, change one thing to start. Try cutting out butter, or soda, or all fried foods, or snacks like chips and candy, cut desserts. Just cut down or cut out one thing. Stay that way for awhile and then work on something else.

    7. Learn to cook! Cooking is fun and when you're making healthy things, you really feel good about yourself that way too.

    8. Find someone to help you be accountable. Sometimes when we start a diet we are all on fire for it and do well to start out, but then we have one bad day and beat ourselves up for it. If someone is there for you, a spouse, a best friend, an online buddy, whoever, they can help you through those hard times and congratulate you on your great times.

    9. When grocery shopping, always try to find a lo-fat, lo-cal, no sugar added, etc. version of the foods you normally buy. Instead of butter, we use no-stick cooking spray and that fries our foods just as good as butter. Instead of full fat sour cream and milk, we get the fat free. Sometimes there is a different taste, but you do get to like it.

    11. Don't weigh yourself everyday. Your weight can fluctuate up to about 5 lbs difference throughout the day, so don't fret when all of a sudden you're 4 lbs heavier than you were. Set a time each week to weigh yourself and stick to that time only. Say, Tuesday mornings, with no clothes, before breakfast, for example and do it that way every single time.

    11. BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF! :) Only you are responsible for you. It's no one else's. If mom cooks a high fat or high calorie dinner, only you can choose something else. You don't HAVE to eat it. If the scale goes up this week, think back about the week, what happened? You know what you did or didn't do. So dig in and do it this week.

As far as foods and drinks are concerned, there are many out there on store shelves. Mostly you just have to do your research. Stay away from battered, deep-fried foods, oils like butter and margarine, full fat dairy, etc. Learn to read labels and compare, making sure to look at the serving size. Don't assume that just because it DOESN'T say low-fat or something that it's not good or okay for you. I still eat Fruit Loops and waffles with syrup for breakfast. :)

A list of my fav "diet" foods are:

    Rice cakes (Carmel corn)

Eggo Lo-Fat Waffles (which are better than 99% Fat Free)

    Pretzels

    SmartOnes Meals and Desserts

    Weight Watchers candy

    Sugar free gum

    Sugar free jello and pudding

    98% Fat Free soups

    FF milk

    Light or FF yogurt

Crystal Lite (add selter water to be a fruity soda)

    Frozen yogurt

    FF hotdogs

    Whole wheat bread and tortillas

    No sugar added canned fruit

Lo-fat granola bars (one of my favs!)

Hummus (pureed garbanzo beans, spread on crackers)

    Baked or Light chips

    Laughing Cow Cheese

    Philly Swirl popsicles

    FF Miracle Whip

    Fruit and Veggies of course

    No sugar added jelly

94% FF POPCORN (absolutely favorite snack)

Egg white omelettes (use at least one whole egg)

Chocolate Muffins (special recipe of cake mix and pumpkin)

    Meat and cheese sandwiches

    Chips and salsa

This is just a small list of what I eat, but there is nothing on here that is so totally weird or gross. And all of it is easily accessable and easy to make too.

    Hope this has helped!

OK, first you are going to eat 6 times per day. Once every 3 hours. I don't know your age or height, so we can't calc the calories required to maintain your weight. However, if you plan your meals carefully, you will always be full and will still be able to lose weight. At a meal, you should try to have one carb and one protein portion.

Most people have problems with diets because they try to starve themselves (like you did today), then go on a binge later. The binge will kill any progress you have made during the day, and will actually be worse than if you just ate 6 times a day.

When you eat, eat a portion. A portion is the size of your fist. That is the easy way to measure your food.

Are you exercising? Along with eating right, exercising can help the pounds melt off.

Remember, you want to lose this weight permanently. That means a pound or two a week. Slow and steady weight loss means you keep it off and are doing it the healthy way.

The first thing you can do is get rid of the iced tea. Drink water instead.

The second thing is to make sure that the Lean Cuisine is low in sodium!

The third thing is to go to the store and buy a bottle of benefiber or fibersure and take it every day. Follow the instructions on the bottle. A bottle costs about ten dollars.

The fourth thing you can do is make sure you have fruits and veggies in your house at ALL times, even if that means buying strawberries and kiwis, etc. and cutting them up and freezing them so they stay fresh longer.

The fifth thing to do is have a smoothie every day. This makes it easier to have fruits every day. Just take any fruits you like and throw them in the blender with some fat free milk or vanilla soy milk :) and blend away. You can add ice and fibersure or benefiber, but whatever you do, do not add sugar, honey, or fake sweeteners. Try not to use yogurt, as I have tried this and it makes the smoothie too thick.

The sixth thing you can do is steam some brocolli and carrots or other veggies and have those every day so that you make sure you have ur veggie intake.

The seventh thing is to have salad, but NO DRESSING!!! Try lemon instead. Or vinegar and oil, but not much oil.

The eighth thing you MUST DO is drink at least eight to ten glasses of water each day.

    Good luck!!!

Source(s): You do not have to do all these things, but they are ideas to get you started. Good luck!!!

Wooah: I just read you were 13. Don't stress about your weight. Enjoy being a child... You only get to do it once & its a really fun time in your life. Go learn a thing or two about calories, eat well and stay active.

BUT... the rest of my post is here...

I lost 60 pounds last year following a really simple diet. Count calories... I used http://www.calorie-count.com/ to figure out all the math...

    (1) Go to Calorie Counter's website and figure out how many calories you should be eating in a day. Choose the "Sedentary" option for how much exercise you should be doing. http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/calories-goa...

However many calories it tells you you should be eating. That's what you get in a day for free.

    (2) Exercise at least 1 hour per day. Anything -- go for a walk, do stairmaster, anything. For any exercise you do, you earn calories. For example, if you walk at 2mph, you lose about 150 calories an hour... and can therefore eat an additional 150 calories that day. You can figure out what exercise is worth how many calories at: http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/activities.p...

    (3) There are "free" food that don't cost calories... Fruits, Veggies, Coffee (black) and Tea (with no sugar or milk). Eat these as snacks during the day to keep yourself going.

    (4) Eat breakfast, lunch, dinner. I used to eat cereal & skimmed milk for breakfast, a Subway sandwich for lunch (just like Jared, yeah!) with no mayo, cheese or anything with excess calories (check their website for calorie info -- but the 6" Turkey sandwich on wheat is the best option), and a proper dinner.

What I LOVED about this diet is I could eat whatever I wanted. If I was going to a fancy dinner -- I'd just exercise a lot that day (or the next day). If I just craved a big steak... well, I did a 20 mile bike ride the next day.

The other thing I liked about the diet... I lost 10lbs per month... and after 6 months looked great.

Good luck with your diet... and if you have questions -- ask...

It is always a good idea to have moderate meals at regular intervals. A Female body needs around 1800 to 2000 calories a day. So your goal should be to consume fewer calories a day and hence you eventually loose weight.

You can have lentil soup. It is a very healthy food which is quite filling and has lots of protein in it.

Have whole wheat bread and brown rice.

and have lots of veggies, low fat or fat free yougurt and milk. It fills u up and hence helps to loose weight. You can have apples and oranges rather than a banana.

Eat 6 small meals rather than big three ones.Never try to diet. Its not the best way to lose weight.Workout 6 days a week.3 days for running/cardio.3 days extreme workout/power weightlifting.Take more protein in every meal you take.Take a little less calories than you need everyday.Eat as much fruit as you can.3-4 fruits/day atleast.drink 3 gallons of water/day.Dieting only cant reduce fat.You need to workout to.Star with working out 3 or 4 days a week. You dont need to do weighlifting if you dont need to build up muscle. At least do running for 2 or 3 miles/day and o cardio for 25-30 minues.Do some ab workout if you can.Oblique crunches, regular crunches.

Well, my mom does Weight Watchers. She goes by points. She had 24 a day. As her weight goes down, she loses points a day. Now she has 20 a day. She has done very well and lost 35 lb. She's still going for 4 more pounds. By the way if you go by the points you can eat anything!!!

Skipping meals only makes you hungerier, so you are much more likley to crave and eat a lot of food later on. Porportions are key, as is eating more healthy stuff. You don't have to complely cut out junk food, just eat it in smaller porportions. Also eat smaller porportions at meals, but enough so that you don't feel hungry an hour later. Also, it takes about 15 minutes for your body to realize it has food in it and starts to feel full. By chewing slowly, you eat less but really are full, even if you might not think you are.

Try to cut down on eating snacks, and doing just a little bit of exercise daily. Exercise helps build mussle. which burns more calories to work, plus while you are working out, you burn calories.

I feel your pain I had the same problem. Most ppl have this same question but its not just what u eat its also how much of it u eat and how often u excersize. Eating fruits and vegies as sncks does help, but only minutely, Honestly, my advise is eat a little less of what ever your eating and get more excersize. (It doesn't have to be drastic, things like walking are also good for you too.) also drinks do not take a huge factor but just like snacking a little becomes alot and then blam.

dont skip breakfeast and lunch! breakfeast is most important, it kickstarts your metabolism so you lose weight. and you cant skip lunch, cuz then your dinner will stick to you and you have a higher risk of pigging out on junk food
