Lots of 5 year olds love water and the beach. So if you do a pool party do a tropical theme a Laua!!!! You can buy pool Rings and see who can get the most or buy cheap water guns from wal-mart and allow them to play with the water guns and they can play around with them. (These are just SIMPLE IDEAS with stuff you could possible have at your house. Here are a couple of easy but complex ideas..... You can make Jello aquariums and they can eat them as a snack before cake: you just need blue jello and gummy fish, while the jello is liquidy put the fish in! THey are sooooo cute! Here is a craft. Take a paper plate and color it, give it Eyeballs (either draw them or buy the wiggly eyes!) draw fish lips or use pipe cleaners. These turn out cute and the kids always love them. Good Luck!!! If I have anything else I will put another comment! GOOD LUCK!!

Well just ask the five year old what he/she likes, then hire some costumes and dress up has dem, then put on a show for the five yr olds, and get experiened actors to do it, then after that have a pool party with some games in the pool.

Source(s): thats what i had at my 5th b-day party my theme was the simpsons

Pool party sounds good, along with that you could add in some activities, like making some.. Art or something with crayons, glitter, ect ect.. Other then that a pool party would be just fine, but hopefully you have a nice pool though, and be sure to have some floating toys and balls, and infaltible wings in case they cant swim.

A grill also might be nice if you plan to have this at a pool and it would be outside.

I think crafts are a good choice for younger children. Go to a local arts and crafts supply store and there are many affordable, age appropriate crafts to choice from. There are kits to make picture frames, simple treasure boxes with pre-fabricated wood boxes and glue plastic "gems" on them....etc. Put down several cheap, disposable tablecloths under the table(s) and have several boxes of unscented babywipes to clean hands and faces. Then, after cleanup, go swimming for a while and when they have had enough, have them each decorate their own cupcake or cookie. If you want a healthier snack, have a variety of pre-cut fresh fruit and have them build their own "fruit sundae".
