There is no such market now, however if a market for trading forest carbon credits existed, you could only claim credit sequestered carbon, that is for new growth minus material that died and decayed each year, so as the forest matures it would no longer produce a positive income.

And here's an even better idea. Why don't you and I go into partnership. We'll sell our carbon credits to the highest bidder and split the money.

Then, pretending like the deal never happened, we'll contact the runner-up, tell him that the first one never paid up, and offer to sell the carbon credits for the second price.

I'll put ads on the internet in Europe, where there is great hunger to buy carbon credits, and we'll sell our credits again to them too!

We may have to hire extra staff just to count all our money for us!
