Mum's only should i be worried my 8 almost 9 month old baby isn't crawling?
When did your baby start to crawl? I know i shouldn't worry but with all the other children around my babies age even younger crawling i sometimes feel like a bad mum, he will pull himself forward and sometimes get up on all fours and take a few steps then fall down and grizzle! Am i just being silly?

They say that since the "Back to Sleep" campaign...some babies skip crawling all together....simply because they haven't spent enough time on their stomachs to develop the necessaary muscles...there's nothing wrong with it and studies have shown that it doesn't impair their ability to walk or reach any "milestones" any sooner or later than their crawling peers.
And frankly if he is pulling himself and managing to get up on all fours...he's getting there.
I wouldn't be concerned, but if it bothers you...the more time he spends on his belly practicing....the sooner he'll have the muscles he needs to crawl...(although he still may opt to scoot or roll instead, skip crawling and go straight to walking)
No worries, he sounds perfectly normal!

Every child is different. My son is almost 7 months and hasn't even really tried to crawl yet. Some babies pick up crawling late, but learn to walk just fine. My daughter did an army type crawl once in a while, but never really learned to crawl. Around 11 months though, she started walking just fine. Is this your first child? I think every mom wonders about stuff like that with their first, I know I did. Even now I do it with my 2 year old daughter. I see other children that can talk very well, and then look at my daughter that can say some things, but not quite as much. Sometimes I feel like a bad mother, that I should be teaching her more or something. It will all work out, if it gets to walking age and you are still worried, mention it to your doctor. Hope that helps. Good Luck!

All babies mature at different rates and some babies are wanting to move around alot more, my first baby was 8 1/2 months before he even looked like crawling but that is because i always had him in a walker and he wanted to walk not crawl, my 2nd was 8 months and my 3rd crawled very quickly at 4 1/2 months and was walking around the couches at 6 1/2 months he was very advanced that i was actually getting worried about him. One trick is to put things that he wants in front of him but he will need to move to actually get it, i know it sounds cruel but that worked for mine. Don't stress and don't think you're a bad mum it's just they are all different. One of my friends babies didn't crawl until 14 months and didn't walk until 20 months, they had heaps of tests done on him to find out why he was slow to move and the doc reckons it was because his mum was always fussing over him that he didn't need to move for anything which we found funny.

My second son didn't crawl until he was 15 months old. He walked at 10 months though. I was very worried but the doctor told me that children develope differently and that he would eventually crawl. It was so weird after watching him walk for months to suddenly see him crawling around all over the place.

Not at all!! All babies hit milestones at different ages, and many skip crawling all together. I have a baby that is 7 months old now, but was born 3 months early, so I am told to treat him like he was born on his due date. He just rolled over tummy to back last week, so he is no where near the target areas for these things, but will get there eventually. Don't stress about it, when he does start moving you will be stressed enough!! : )

Sweetie, I have an 11month old that still isn't crawling! And I'm not worried. Having 3 other children, I know that he's just insecure, and a very plump baby (which makes any physical activity come slower--that's more weight to carry around). His social skills are great, and he gets to what he wants by rolling around. As long as he's accomplishing his goals one way or another, then there's nothing wrong with him. You're worried for nothing. He's either too scared, or his muscles are still too weak, which is all normal.

Hello, My baby is now 5 and i had the same problem and she didn't walk until after her 1st birthday. I wouldn't worry about it so much (i was at the time as well). My daughter is a very bright girl and active. just enjoy the time you have as very soon he'll be running and you'll wonder where your little baby went. When my daughter was 1 1/2 her little friend was 2mths younger and was able to swim the length of the pool. Where do we as mums draw the line??? Children all develop at different paces and its not too say they aren't as intellectual as the other kids that can walk 1st.

Why worry. My baby is 8 months plus and he is not crawling yet, he just lies down, smiles into my face and puts his head down. Though my other kids were not like that but am not worried because I know that all kids are not the same and he is developing normally. He will do that at his own time. You are disturbing him by even worrying for him. Let the baby be.

My oldest daughter never crawled. She just started walking around 11 months. She is now 8 years old and a completely normal and healthy child. CALM DOWN!

My son just rolled everywhere until he was about 12 months or so... Then he would army crawl/ roll from place to place... Never actually got up on all fours and crawled... Didn't start walking til about 15 months! I wouldn't worry about it though, as long as he's healthy! He'll pick it up when he's ready! =)
