why do people associate the worst with black people?

Where do people get most of their information?

Parents and television. Guess how blacks are portrayed on the "tube"?

My personal answer would be that blacks are the least "American" of the minorities. By that I mean they're the least assimilated, and by gosh people wonder why! For a race that was practically dragged here and treated like shyt for hundreds of years, it's not exactly appalling when they aren't as assimilated as races of people who came here willingly to better their lives.

And of course people hate or dislike what they can't understand. Perhaps out of frustration with themselves.

This is very true! I think that it's also Black people ourselves who do this as well, as a resort of slavery and the mentality and physically beating that Black American ancestors endured. Some people simply only pay attention to Black people when we're doing something bad, just like the media, you NEVER hear about the countless positive things that go on in the Black communities. So people are basically brainwashed to think that Black people are always up to no good.

Show black people in a different light.. Show black people loving one another and caring for one another. Show us not only as thug, but intelligent, daring, and 360 degrees of what media is pumping out as "the black woman and man in America" and maybe, just maybe, ignorant eyes will be open. Most of the stereotypical crap is coming from the tv and movies.

I understand that Black people are not heads of most of the media. So there is a need that needs to be met

And support Black drama shows. We don't just crack jokes daily.

Wow. I am a long winded person on these racial issues.

There is so much to say to that I don't know where to begin.

But for a short answer (partially relevant), people fail to see our individual problems and collective problems and instead say "those people are evil".

Like a black man who robbed a store....it is not that he has been misbehaving since 5, given no boundaries, mother was addicted, father was gone, no discipline in school, feels deprived and not given things to offset this (like allowances), got into more and more trouble over time (no one stopped him or got to the root of the behavior), until he got into so much trouble he was not eligible for honest work. Now he steals and steals. He developed a drug habit like his mother and needs to support it. He has problems.

It would be in the mind of most people on the planet that he was just born evil and bad because he is black.

As for why, it started as difference, and people began looking for negative behaviors and erroneously associating bad behavior with black (during slavery and after when black people committed virtually no crimes), then hundreds of years (slavery, Jim Crow, and modern poverty) of living like animals produced "examples" for them and there you have it.

Media, and some of the black activists that represent your people.. They should show the good that Black people do more often, If they would do that then Those of you that are good can over come those of you who are bad..

That goes with any race, They do it to Latino's also.

Not all do, but yes plenty of people do, and that's not right. Some people associate the worst with white people and are racist against them. I wish it would stop. We are all human and shouldn't judge people by their skin, eyes, hair and what-not.

Strangely, Romeo in part, is dead on. Most non-blacks experiences with blacks come from the media first--we have gone from watching blacks during the sixties being treated inhumanely quite openly to the entire nation, to watching the "new" (same) black people 'repackaged' as the mortal enemy of 'American' values and our national 'well being'...

...knowledge of your history goes a long way in this world--better to have it so that the past remains the past...

Media...and/including misguiding stats that people use as facts. Numbers could lie, if you don't understand the reasoning behind them.
