Overall, I really was not impressed with the recent movie. I did not think that the film's producers (and some of the stars) had a very good handle on the time period they were working with.

However the BBC miniseries was VERY good. It held quite close to the book, and was well cast.

None of thr films, whether it be the 1930's version with Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson ( screenplay written by Aldous Huxley - later to write"Brave New World" ) or the latest with Matthew McFadyen and Keira Knightley can ever fully capture the wonderful characterisations portrayed by Jane Austen. The time constraints do not permit that. The BBC mini series of the mid 1990's with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle had more time to indulge in details. So, it is probably the best of all adaptions. I did however enjoy all three , if not solely for making a comparison to the book and have them in my DVD collection.

Which movie? I have fallen in love with the A&E version starring Colin Firth. I have a 1929 version of the book and the movie mimics it's illustrations almost to a tee. It's a wonderful adaptation! I haven't seen the newer version. Hope this helps!

i love the movie it was really good the one with keira knightley, i felt like i was really reading the book word by word when i was watching the movie (we were reading it for our AP english class and my teacher decided to take a field trip to the theatres so we could watch pride and prejudice tee-hee). i also like the black and white version of pride and prejudice that was really good too.

pride and prejudice is my fave by jane austen. it's really one of the greatest works in literature.

    The A&E/BBC version was excellent.

I didn't care much for the latest one with K. Knightley, although it did have a rather hard act to follow, considering the other versions out there.

I loved the new movie, but I haven't seen any of the other versions to compare it to.
