Drain help please!?

I have a floor drain in the basement of my girlfriends house that drains slow. I have tried cleaning it with a snake, by bare hand, and Draino to no avail. She doesn't have alot of money to fix it. Any ideas from any plumbers out there willing to help?

take the cover off the floor drain if you haven't already. get a shop vac and stick it in the hole as far as you can. very likely the trap is full of dirt. Second option, get a drain king, it attaches to a garden hose, what it does is inflates when you turn the water on and uses a pressurized stream of water. Stick it in the drain as far as you can, you may have to hold it in place. Try the shop vac first.

Nornally I might say drain, however learn the recommendations. It says you must boil till it thickens. With out the juice there isn't liquid to boil, so in thwe case you do Not drain.

It could be alot of things. Could be roots that have broken into the pipe. It could have collapsed. It could have plaque (hard sediment) or other material built up.

My first suggestion is to rent a camera from one of the equipment rental places near you. It's basically a small camera on the end of a snake to let you see exactly what is going on. Then you should go in the appropriate direction you need to.

You could try a garden hose, if that doesnt work , it may have collapsed, or have tree roots growing into it.

    Good luck!

Try this thing that you use with a garden hose.
