Howard Stern is on the air but Imus is sacked?

The Howard Stern show is full of racial, sexist remarks but no one brings Stern up on this. Imus starts walking the Howard Way and Jackson & Sharpton are on him like a ton of bricks.

Whats the difference here?

What makes Stern so unstoppable with his remarks compared to Imus?

Update:

I agree, Adult Humour is what's so good about comedy.

The Politcally Correct are destroying this world because its a one sided rule.

Because there is a DIFFERENCE between humor and racism. Howard Stern does all the things you listed, but he does it in jest. In reality, he respects women...his best friend in the world is a black WOMAN. He's not racist at all!

For every off-color comment made AS A JOKE, he makes several points that show his true colors as a human being. He is an animal lover, and supports his fiance in her endeavors to help the North Shore Animal League. He also happens to be a constant advocate of gay rights.

I think you would need to actually listen to (and understand) the show to really see how he is not as bad as people are lead to believe.

Morgan Freeman and Bruce Lee kicked Imus and Sharpton in their co cks!

Howard Stern has been fined numerous times for his raunchy show and he quit and is now on Sirius Radio, pay-to-listen, and that's the difference.

Perhaps Imus will follow in Stern's footsteps and switch to Sirius where he will have the freedom to speak his mind without repercussions.

Howard is on Pay Radio, Sirius. He started the whole migration to pay radio. Imus is on free air. The FCC has to make a strong move on him, if they don't...Howard Stern could sue them for Billions.

Imus, on free radio, made racist (perceived which ever way you want) statements and is now suffering the repercussions.

To the morons who keep saying that Howard is on satellite:

are you 3 years old or younger? you think Howard behaved like NPR 12 years ago?

Howard , on REGULAR FM SYNDICATED RADIO, has done the same thing for at least 12 years BEFORE satellite- he also had a tv show - a regular, broadcast tv show- and he was a lot worse on that than anything Imus did

    YOU do your homework, Jorge

Stern in not on FCC airwaves, he's on satellite. Imus has said many highly offensive remarks on public air, and has repeatedly apologized and promised not to do it again. Yet, he does. Maybe he can get a satellite job like Stern and can keep on saying what he likes then...

Because Stern is on satellite radio (it's like cable TV but for radio), and Imus was on a national station (CBS). Imus will now probably go to satellite radio like Stern...do your homework next time!

Stern is on satellite. They don't have to bow to advertisers nearly as much. Imus may consider turning to satellite radio.
