Yeah ... Sure ;-)
the Units are multiplied, or added or whatever as well as the numbers too.
When u say 8 cm . 7 cm it means an area of 56 cm square, see it makes sense over here. say if 8 cm is the length and 7 cm is the width of an area equals to 8 cm . 7cm = 56 cm square

Yes. Because you're multiplying the "cm"s, too. "cm" times "cm" equals "cm" squared. You can always multiply units this way.
"cm" is a quantity, just like "8". It's a quantity of distance. Think of "8cm" as "eight times centimeter".
To stand this on its head:
The set of numbers is defined as:
A. there is a number "1" (unitary)
B. for every number in the set of numbers, there is a number exactly one greater than it.
The "1" is your "unit", in this case: "cm".
So applying rule B, we can use the symbol "2cm" to represent the number exactly "cm" greater than "cm". Or, more naturally spoken, a centimeter greater than one centimeter.
Point is, units are essentially quantities. Numbers represent multiples of quantities, so they are quantities too. And therefore, mathematically, they act just like units.
Thus, units act just like numbers.
Since (2 * 4) * (3 * 4) = 2 * 3 * 4 * 4, (2 * cm) * (3 * cm) = 2 * 3 * cm * cm, or 6 cm2.

yup! cuz it's something X somthing. that = something2 (think length times width. it's area or something squared... your house is 50 feet by 100 feet ....that's 5000 square feet. isn't that just really neat?
