Dog's have normal oral flora (bacteria), including Pasteurella that you do not want in your wounds as it can cause infection. Clean it with alcohol and use an antibiotic ointment, not your dog's tongue.

Your talking about an animal that uses it's tongue for toilet paper, not to mention spending how many hours of the day licking it's balls, not to mention running around your yard looking for rotten nasty dead things to eat. Now I ask you, why in the hell do you want this animal licking your wounds?
