    ok 580 =100% so you want to know what percent of 580 is 87

    87/580 = X/100

    step one cross multiply 87x100 =8700

    then divide by 580

    8700divided by 580=15

    x=15

    so 15% of the employees will be laid off

    Like everyone else says, the percentile is 15%

    However, the fractional percent is merely 87/580

    I don't believe this fraction can be reduced, but I believe it cannot.
