Who was the person From Japan, sent people to go to China to learn about their religions and cultures?
I have it on my book and was going to do more research, and now I can not seem to find it. I do remember he was interested
in the Chinese faiths and traditions and sent his own men to go do reseach and bring what they learn to Japan. I think the person might have been a price, but I forget, please help!

I believe you are referring to Prince Shotoku who opened direct contact with China, adopted their calender and created the 17 point constitution in 604..... here's the link on Wik http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Shotoku

Both, but now focus on Japan. If you learn about them and understand their culture it will help as they are in a great crisis and need support from others.
