yes. my dad was an alcholic. he told me he would take me to a rangers game for my 12th birthday and he did (when i turned 13, mind you). i noticed he was acting strange when he picked me up, but i was young and didnt realize what that meant. he was increasingly obnoxious the whole game, being loud and rude and slurring his words. i was so embarassed. then when we left, he kept on asking me where the car was. when we got in the car and were driving home, i was genuinly scared for my life. he was singing loudly to "bye bye miss american pie" and was sneezing all over the place and smoking cigars. i felt like he just didnt love me enough to stay sober. he promised me he would never do it again, but 6 months later he was driving me and my sister home and he was drunk. we went in to best buy and he humiliated my sister in front of some guy she didnt even know. his descision to drink has caused a deep hatred of him. i cant stand him anymore. it has totally affected my life and our relationship. i even have a worse relationship with my other siblings and parents than i would have.

Good question.
Not only are people gravely affected by their own drinking they also affect the lives of everyone around them particularly the ones that love and care about them.
For information on this there are a couple of groups called Alanon and Alateen.
Alanon is for the non alcoholics that are affected by a persons drinking.
Alateen is for teenagers that are affected by someone's drinking.
Many tragic things happen because someone gets drunk. And there can be a great deal of shame because of drinking.
Alanon and/or Alateen may have information you can use for this question.
These groups charge nothing and are completely anonymous.
You may find out how to contact a local group on the WWW.

Yes.... I have been alcohol-free for 20 years at this point in time, however. And for the past 3 1/2 years I've had the opportunity and privilege to work full-time with other people who want to be sober.

well, it was more of my friends lifes who it affected. i was just there, and drunk. friend crashed his gf's car, they lived together but they were in a fight and he took her car, she reported it stolen, he crashed into a big giant wooden light poll, car caught fire, now he's in prison for grand theft auto, and my other friend there got beligerent with the cops so they arrested her, and she tried to resist so she had to go to jail, but only over night. i was the only one to play everything cool. we were on xanex too though, so that made things worse.
