Should the eight US attorneys fired by Gonzales be reinstated?

All U.S Attorneys serve at the will of the President so it really doesn't matter why the attorneys were fired. The firings were legal and not uncommon. And since when is the relationship between president, vice-president, and presidential advisor defined as a clique?

No, not at all. The positions serve at the discretion of the President , who can fire them at any time for any reason. The false scandal that the democrats are making such a big stink about is really a non-issue. You have to understand that this is all part of the Democrats stragey to undermine the current administration and distract the public from their lack of ideas. By doing nothing except pointing their fingers at the adminstration for the year and a half , they hope to mantain there slight advantage in congress in the next elections. As soon as this one is over, they will create another investigation or inquiry based on whatever accusations they can drum up to whittle the time away. Meanwhile, they have done very little since they gained control with the exception of trying to push forward the largest tax increase in US history, which Bush is about to veto (thank God). Their behavior on the Iraq issue is close to treasonist, and I think they have misread the American public quite badly. They won the majority in the last election out of disgust from the conservative base, who wre fed up with what the Republicans were doing. Not by some mandate from the masses for change on foreign policy. Check the numbers on how Americans feel about Iraq. The behavior of Pelosi, Schummer, and Reid are an embarrassment to America, and these clowns should be run out of town on a rail in the next elections!

My opinion is that Gonzales should be fired. He was disrespectful to the Judicial Oversight Committee by failing to provide sufficient documentation as they had requested in advance.

I am surprised the the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce are putting pressure on him to resign. That is of course if I am assuming that the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce wants honesty in business and their members.

As for the attorneys who were fired, it is my belief that the Judiciary Oversight Committee should review each dismissal and amend any reasons if warranted.

We need justice in the Department of Justice not a liar as the highest law officer in the country.

It would be a good thing for the government to do. It will reinstate credibility in the department of justice. The investigations should however continue, to find out about the interference by the republican senator Domenichi, in the legal process, as well as the interference in the investigations of the associates of republican Duke Cunningham, who was convicted of crimes while in office.

why stop with just those attorneys? Go to the Supreme Court and fire all those old time, senile Supreme Court Justices and replace them with some young blood. Like everyone else, these old geezers need to step down and let someone younger take over. (hell, 60 years old is young compared to some of those old dudes)

They should be dealt justice. If it is determined by proper legal proceedings that they were improperly terminated, then there must be some form of compensation for all of them.

Likewise, those who committed the act of dismissing them for political reasons do deserve punishment.

Those attorneys work at the pleasure of the President. If he feels like canning them, then they are gone. What's the big deal? People are trying to make something out of nothing. Kind of like the whole Valerie Plame thing.

Actually I thought most of the fired attorneys were fired because they wouldn't prosecute crooks.

Democrat crooks who committed voter fraud.

Should the 90 or so US Attorneys be reinstated that Clinton fired when he came into Office?
