I have a plymouth grand voyager 1998 model that does not cool or heat even when the fan is on.?

Fan is working, blower motor seems to be working, but cannot get any heat when I move the switches to hot on driver/passenger and even back heaters. The back windsheild defrost is not working either. Could there be a simple answer to this, or does it sound more like a thermostat or heater core issue? I just don't know where to start, I have checked fuses, and everything seems to be ok there.

Update:

It is difficult to describe the exact problem. The fan blows when turned on, however, when the switch is moved from hot to cold, I do not feel any difference in temperature. The defrost does not work other than to just blow outside temperature air onto the windsheild, and the back defrost does not seem to be working either. I appreciate the answers, and as soon as I am able to take the time to take my vehicle into a mechanic I will do so, but I was hoping for some sort of possible solution before I go in and get jerked around about what the problems could be.

Your question doesn't match your subsequent description.

I take it heat is the issue, Low coolant seems most probable, but could be a stuck open thermostat. have it checked by a shop before you hurt your vehicle as both of those items are bad for the car.
