Where do you keep your dogs when you're having sex w/spouse? They whine and bark while gated up in kitchen.
I have 2 small dogs and it's really hard for my husband and I to be intimate with them around, so we put them in the kitchen, but we can hear them from the bedroom. What can we do? They are not outside dogs.

Hey, this is a real issue- not just a joke!
The thing that we did was SLOWLY teach them that their safe room (in our house it's the kitchen) is a totally fun place to be. We put them in there for SECONDS until it was worked up to HOURS... like crate training. Nothing bad ever happens in the kitchen. Food magically appears. There are beds and GREAT toys, that don't ever go out of the kitchen. Once they are trained to ENJOY the kitchen, then you have a safe place to lock them up when you get busy. Whatever you do, if they start screaming while you are messing around DO NOT RESPOND, even with yelling--- you want to teach them that it does no good to yell and scream , you two are going to make noise with or without their permission.

Lordy, I had a head full of snappy answers for you but decided that it might be a real problem for you so....
Try getting them each a treat KONG. The type you fill with treats or peanut butter. It will take a little advanced planning but if you get the KONG ready early it won't damage the mood to stop and hand one to each of the dogs. I've seen these things keep the dogs busy for an hour or more. Don't forget to teach the dogs about the KONG in advance so they will be more interested in getting the treats than worrying about all the noise that you're making. Sorry had use at least one zinger.

I'm smiling, not to be mean or rude like some of the others here. I had a cat who just simply had to crawl into bed at intimate times. For her, the solution was catnip. My friend got the idea. He knew I allowed her catnip at special times soooooo...before he and I got too carried away, we placed catnip on the floor for her in the living room, far away from the bedroom.
Try chew snacks or toys. Give them this special treat just before things get too far. Good luck and I hope this helps.

We used to give each one a rawhide chew and a bowl full of dry dog food. After the chew and the bowl of food, they would usually lay down and go to sleep. Either that are howl frantically to go out and pee, but even after that, they were pretty pacified and sleepy, so they would still take a nap.

Try letting them stay in the room in a crate and covering it with a blanket. Might help because they know they are with you and yet you have privacy so you don't freak from them watching you. I don't know. Good Luck with that one.
