You are misinformed. Sharks are not immune to cancer, though they appear to have a lower incidence of the disease. There have been some studies done on using shark cartilage, but there is no conclusive evidence that it works.
Science Daily: Shark Cancers Cast More Doubt On Cartilage Pills
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2000/04/00040...
" Businesses that sell shark cartilage as a cancer cure or preventative have claimed for years that sharks never get cancer, but this week scientists from The Johns Hopkins University and George Washington University presented a detailed history of benign and malignant tumors found in sharks and related fishes."
"Proponents believe that shark cartilage stops a tumor's growth by preventing it from growing new blood vessels (angiogenesis). The rationale behind this theory is the belief that sharks don't get cancer, although that has since been proved false. Some anti-tumor substances have been found in cartilage, though, and shark cartilage has been used in clinical trials. The Food and Drug Administration found no conclusive evidence that shark cartilage works and recommends against using shark cartilage as a cancer treatment. Clinical trials using substances isolated from shark cartilage are currently under way."

No, sharks are actually not resistant to maximum cancers. they're quite very resistant to maximum cancers. So, relative to many different animals, tumors in sharks are very uncommon, and purely a small fraction of those that do ensue are honestly malignant. the two 'epigonal organs' which purely elasmobranchs (sharks and rays) have are theory to help with the immune device.

Shark are NOT immune to cancer. That is a myth promoted by hucksters selling shark cartilage supplements.
The results of all clinical trials have shown shark cartilage is NOT an effective treatment for cancer.

Where did the idea that cancer were immune to cancer get started anyways?

How can you be so sure they are immune to cancer with all the **** we dump in the ocean it would surprise me if a few sharks had tumors as big as a head of lettuce. but if they are immune its probably cause they had to evolve down from the orginal form to survive with smaller food like the alligator supposedly did

so many sarcastic answer to a serious question. why they dont get it is unknown, but they do use the cartlidge to treat cancer in humans so evidently they have a natural imunity to it. my neighbor had lung cancer and as part of her chemical trial, she had to drink 4 oz of shark cartlidge 3 times a day for 30 days, and it put her in remission. i hope this helps

Not Immune.
Sharks are not mammals.
Only mammals express cancer the same cellular way.
Interestly enough some reptiles display cancer by growing extra appendages.
