What do you think about this dog food brand : Royal Canin? Is it good?

I have an 8 years old Rottweiler.

Looking at the analysis of ingredients for the Large Breed Mature (which is what I thought you might use for your Rottie), it could be better. 2 forms of rice in the first 3 ingredients is a little bothersome (more meat is better), and the fact that they have to add "chicken flavor" isn't great -- the ingredients should be tasty enough!

The site that I'm looking at only gave it 2 stars (out of 6). Check it out:

It's decent, I would call it fair. Eagle Pack is good, and Innova is great. It has some quality ingredients, but for the most part it contains all the same stuff brands like Science Diet have, which are low quality. There are many brands out there that are a much better quality, but it is a definate step up from anything you can get at a grocery/superstore. Better than Science Diet, Eukanuba, Purina, and Iams.

    It's pretty good stuff.

Look at the ingredients. IF the first ingredient is a real meat, like chicken or beef, than it's probably a good food. Avoid anything with by-products or by-product meal in there. That is crap. Also avoid corn meal and wheat, as they are really just fillers.

Some good brands to check out

    Wellness,

    Innova

    Canidae

Natural Balance ( stay away from the recalled variety with Venison and Brown rice )

It's a decent food, but it all depends on what your dog tolerates. I tried feeding my 3 both Eagle Pack and Wellness and they absolutely couldn't tolerate it. I tried the Royal Canin and they do really well on it - so if your dog does well on it, I think it's a good food.

Yes but overpriced. I prefer Nutro Ultra.
