On movies, how many sequels should be 'enough'?
Take 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' for example, the original and 6 sequels. I think it should have been cut off at 2. or 'Halloween' is on what, episode 9 now? When is enough, enough?

For the most part, one sequel is enough. Sometimes even that is too much.
Other than that, they are stretching.
Of course, this is not unilateral. Some of the later sequels are quite good and some movie series are planned.

Horror movies can have as many as they want. The worse they get, the funnier they are!! You can never come back from the dead too many times.
However, I think they should stop making sequels to all other movies...unless it is essential to the telling of the story. Most production companies make sequels because the original made a lot of money. And, in some cases, when the original didn't make any money. It ruins the original. I loved Ocean's 11 and then I watched Ocean's 12 and it lessened my love of the original. I can't even bare to think of Ocean's 13.

Well that depends on what kind of movie (s) we are talking about. The two you mention should have stopped after the first one. On the other hand some really good movies get more cause the first one was great..like Spider-Man. Then there are movies that where so awesome the need a sequel like The Prestige ,The Illusionist,The Matador...
hope I could help.

That really depends on how good the movie/ story is.
People didn't want Aliens made, but James Cameron did such an outstanding job.
Star Trek: Wrath of Khan was an EXCELLENT sequel.
Ditto for Empire Strikes Back and Godfather II.

That would depend on how good the movie is and how much money it makes. For example X-Men the Last Stand was supposed to be the last but it made so much money plus the ending left it open for more so now Fox Movies are thinking about more X-Men movies and there is a big chance for more X movies. On the X3 dvd case it even says 'GREAT ACTION...THE GREATEST 'X-MEN' MOVIE YET!' so I think there should be two more X-Men movies wich would total 5 because there are hundreds maybe thousands of X-Men comics so there is going to be more. If you saw the end of X3 Magneto moved the metal chess piece after being cured wich ment that his powers were coming back in a fourth. That scene was right before the credits. Also after the credits Proffesor Xavier wasn't really dead he was in a new body. For more info on X-Men 4, click on these websites

I think there should be between 3-6 sequels for movies.

It kind of depends on the movie. The Star Wars movies would have to make 6 movies total, it would be a little stupid not to finish a series. But, Halloween and such should end at about 3 or so, infact, they were kind of pushing it at episode number 5.

i agree 2 sequels is more than enough. usualy by the time you get to episode 3 the movies are not worth watching

I agree with 3. Like the word "Trilogy" sounds cool (and complete) but tetralogy (word for 4) is just a mouthful and very confusing......plus all the best movies come in trilogys....
~Star Wars (I don't count the new 3 because they suck)
~ Indiana Jones (the new one will most likely suck too)
~ X-Men
~Lord of the Rings
~The Godfather
etc!
