Painting GRP.?

I want to paint a set of GRP garage doors. Obvoiously they will need rubbing down and preparing as normal, but do I need to use undercoat, or just a top coat of gloss?

I don't want to get it wrong and have the paint discolour or peel off next winter, so advice please.

Update:

Thanks for the answers, but the doors are GRP - fibreglass, not metal.

yes after you have sanded the door you need to prime any bare bits with a metal primer then an undercoat then a light sanding then you can apply your gloss finish
