Can blacks and whites stop lying?
Okay, there are some truths to certain statements made here on. However, they tend to be offensive and un-pleasurable to the people who it is aimed at. I have been guilty of that myself. However, I notice my sarcasm and meanness is fueled by people that continuously lie and deny the obvious issues facing certain races.
In order for a problem to be solved, we must first admit to the problems existence. Ignoring it will not do anything; it will only give the other side more ammo to use against them. An example I will use is black crime. We all know, thanks to Ralph K's famous statistics that blacks commit more crimes. Now after we acknowledge this it is time to identify the source of this problem; then we can work on fixing it. Education, sports teams, community centers, etc. Another is whites trying to use rap as an excuse to use as many racial slurs as they like. They must admit that they are harboring racism because why else would they be so defensive for Imus’ words?
Regarding the standards of beauty and whiteness we must recognize that black women, particularly dark-skinned women aren't considered as beautiful as lighter ones by society. Those little kids that come home crying because they were called nappy heads and darkly deserve some answers. People need to be aware of their ‘preferences’ for whiteness and how it affects the people that don’t have enough. These men, black too, that ignore dark skinned women and instantly stare and hit on light ones need to be made aware of their behavior and the women they hurt. Then you find the darker calling the lighter pale pasty, high yellow, etc. Will it ever end?
People like Tyra Banks realized this problem and has made sure to include dark-skinned women on her Top Model Show. She could have denied it like the rest of you people but then nothing would have changed. I can’t help but support people like Amanda H because she tried to be PC but then she gets attacked by people for no reason. Then she in turn lashes out. Stop lying!!! Your insults and denial do nothing to prevent or help the problems in our society. You can still love yourself will simultaneously admitting to the bias of us as a whole. Denial only shows your true insecurities; remember that.
Sorry i guess this was too long and confusing...

Hate to say it but prejudice may be the body's way of protecting itself from a potentially dangerous situation. Being afraid or wary of something, somewhere or someone new could very well save your life someday. Cultures are different; always have been, and maybe there is a reason for that. That is why everything starts with knowledge and tolerance. Learn about a religion, culture or race before you decide whether to dislike it or not. It may not be politically correct but it is a right to dislike because of race, etc. As far as the lying goes that won't stop until the human race is extinct. I don't even see race these days, though the media tries, people in general are shallow, materialistic, unfeeling, robotic and uninformed. White, Black, Asian, Latino, Middle-Eastern and Native American alike. Until we all think for ourselves and stop allowing ourselves to be brainwashed the world as we know it is doomed. Let's hope we don't destroy the earth before we're eradicated.

I'm not really sure if there is a question in there. But I am a white woman. I went to ALL 12, 13 with kindergarten with no black, none! So all I have had to go by is media, music, movies and TV. I was 19 before I met y first black man. I was scared to death. Now, however, some of my best friends are black.
I guess my point is that we just have to stop judging people by the race or groups that they come from and judge them by the people that they are.
I do tell some racial jokes and I do say that bad word about certain black people, but I also tell redneck jokes (which is what i am) and I have white trash family members and call them so. I have tried to teach my daughter to see the person not the race.
I like to think I am part of the solution, not that problem. If I am wrong let me know.

Yes, this was extremely confusing... I agreed with your 2nd paragraph, but beyond that, you lost your "writer's voice," meaning that I had no idea what your argument is.
As far as the light skin vs. dark skin thing, I don't know what you're talking about because we--the people down south--don't look at petty stuff like that. It was never an issue with us. Dark and light skinned people were just Black people.
And what are you talking about? Nobody "attacked" Amanda H--is that the one asking if black girls were jealous of white girls? And are white girls easy? She put herself out there like that, and she had some immature comments under the bold print. Both questions invited rude responses because she sounds like Francine (etc). Well, let me quit writing because I'll further confuse myself.

Me get impression you telling people to stop pretending they DON'T have prejudice when they clearly do.
AND, my lady, that is good statement.
There are people who are outwardly racist and that is easy to detect.
The latent ones are sometimes just fearful of that which they do not understand. One of the guys in my car pool got real nervous when I was pulling over to check on a car by the side of the road. There was a dark skinned person standing next to the car and he said, "I don't think we should be stopping here." He was obviously afraid they were dangerous. GET it? I recognized the car as belonging to one of the people in my work area and sure enough it was Tommy. He was eating something on the way to work and got it caught in his throat. Stopped to cough it up so he didn't make a mess in the car. My carpool buddy doesn't think he is prejudiced but by his words he revealed and unnatural fear of dark skinned persons.
That isn't exactly hatred but it IS a prejudice.
Also it is easier to think kindly of a dark skinned young man who is dressed neat and clean and who appears friendly. On the other hand if the young man is dressed in odd clothing and swaggers with a defiant look on his face it is easy to think, "gang member". While it might be an accurate assumption based on photos and news reports it is still only an assumption and is therefore subject to error. People need to learn to leave room for others to be different but people are often intimidated by that which is different. Some are intrigued by it. The best way to promote harmony between races is for people of ALL color to go out of their way to show kindness to others. A friendly look tells folks you care about them. An angry glare sends the message, "You are in MY space sucker."
A white man helping an elderly black lady off the bus sends the message to blacks that there are whites who care about them. A black man picking up something a white person dropped and handing it to them says, "I have integrity". That sends the message that blacks deserve respect. When a group of blacks intimidates a white person it only serves to undue all the good that has been done to improve the lot of blacks. It gives the racist whites another excuse to say, "See blacks don't deserve respect." When a white person is rude or abusive to a black person it tells them that whites are mean and don't care about them. That they can't be trusted.
An Asian person offering his seat to a woman of another race is a good gesture. A Native American showing an act of kindness shows he/she is willing to forgive past grievances and move forward.
Harmony between races is the best answer. If one member of another race offends you, rise above it and look for others who are not bigotted like that one. Don't let it harden your heart because that is what the offender wants.
Respect and love can conquer all, but you won't find it in music that glorifies violence and hatred. Or gangs.
You won't find it in groups that deny entry to other races.
You won't find it in the KKK or neo-nazis.
You can start today being a person who makes a difference. You are either part of the solution or part of the problem. You decide.
UGH!!!!!

Yes! I believe I too read all that history except the part about a hundred thousand years ago bit. I don't know if any one kept any records of different cultures then... Oh! Yes, they did on cave walls. Right Same with the Egyptians, you must really like what you read about them. I did.....Enjoy your history, it can get fascinating.

I agree that we all need to confront reality and deal with issues as they are. I believe that the promulgation of commercialized hip-hop culture by the entertainment industry and the disproportionate crime rate among blacks are the two biggest items that bolster the white racist. If we could all work to remove these two poisons from race relations, then the white racists would have nothing on which to base their arguments.
The other big myth that must be fought is that "race" determines (or should determine) culture. "Acting white" or "acting black" are two truly meaningless phrases, yet they are used as though people determine their behavior based on their pigmentation.

Uh....HELL YES! Did you have a point you were trying to make?
I am a married woman who is loved dearly by my husband and I am not dark or light, I am smack dab in the middle. I never had an issue with the color of my skin when it comes to dating. So what are you really trying to say here?

You've made some valid points here and I applaud you for what you are trying to do...be aware however, that some people will defend ignorance with all their strength and all their being...keep your head up...

BOZO QUESTION..
Sin is in the world Lying has nothing to do with race it has to do with SIN and GOD hates sin and we all need forgiveness
