From the beginning the U.S. Attorney scandal was touted by Republicans as being partisan propaganda.?

Yet today, many Republicans, including Sen(s). Specter, Graham, Sessions, Grasley and Coburn, are calling for his resignation. How do you Republicans who have been waving this away as a Democratic plot feel about it now? Have you changed your minds? Can you still call this a partisan conspiracy? Please, give us your thoughts on this.

Update:

I was going to correct Common Sense, but a couple of you have done that nicely :).

I heard Coburn talking to Gonzalez and he really laid into him. I found what he said to be rather shocking coming from a Republican. I think these guys are kind of sick of Bush dragging their party down the sewer banks. I hope they are equally tired of this president dragging the country down the same sewer. Hearing him criticize Gonzalez actually gave me hope not only for the country but for the GOP finding it's integrity back again. although I'll never vote GOP, it's still hopeful. BTW, I don't vote Dem either.

Common S.... every president fires virtually all the attorneys and reappoints his own. Clinton did, Bush sr did, and GWB fired the most when he came to office. the recent 8 is unprecedented in a mid-term presidency.

Republicans of this administration have shown themselves to be the most corrupt in the history of our country. What is really strange is how people who call themselves conservatives can still defend these rogues. Scandal after scandal has rocked this nation and no one seems to notice or care anymore.

IF you look at what the Republicans are saying, it's not that what Gonzales did was wrong, it's that he's incompetent.

I would agree with that assessment.

He for sure is no John Ashcroft. Now there was a great attorney general!

Everything that happens in Washington, is part of a Liberal plot.

Even getting Bush in office, in the first place, was just another facet of the Liberal plot to destroy America.

Look how well THAT's working. The Liberals are geniuses.

Who would've thought, that getting the other Party in office, could ALSO further your agenda of ruining the country?

    Simply brilliant.

It is good to see some reason setting in on the Republican party.

I think he sunk himself when he came up with several different stories. It probably would have blown over if he had not come up with conflicting stories. I think the firings have taken a back seat to the honesty of the Att. general.

    COMMON,

Bush Jr also fired most of them (80+) when he first stepped into office. What's different is that he fired 9 more well into their terms for political reasons.

    Yes, partisan propaganda...

Not all republicans are true to their party or cause...

Some are just spineless self-serving politicians...

Clinton fired ALL the US Attorney's when he took office..

Bush could have but did not, he kept them all and just

fired a few ( 8 ) recently who were not following his

    philosophy...

As soon as the Dems started complaining about the

firing of the 8, Bush should have fired all the rest of them..

    Great question.

Looks like a lot of prominent elected Republicans are desperately trying to get upwind from the stench of Karl Rove's corruption.

I think the fringe Democrat Party has no original policy ideas, other than the usual "tax and scare" tactic.

I also think Senators, regardless of party, will blow with the wind and say what they think will make the evening news...best sound bite wins.
