How do you scale present day Iraq vs. pre-war Iraq?

It’s a known fact that there is total destruction in Iraq today. The initial invasion, Abu Ghraib, incidences involving US troops robbing/killing/raping Iraqi citizens. This has all added up to what we’ve accused Saddam of doing to his people. Weigh it out.

Present Day Iraq=1. Old Iraq=0. 1/0 = infinity. Present day Iraq is infinitely better than old Iraq. You hear all this bad stuff on the new, but in old Iraq you heard nothing about what was going on. Plus you haven't answered my question. Why didn't you move to Iraq when Saddam was in power.

Forty years ago, Iraq was just sand. The people were/are basically illiterate. It's just about as backwards as you can imagine, yet through American technology they have electricity, television, autos, schools, roads ... yes, from the 70's, when the US was looking for other means of oil. The Iraqi's were more than happy to provide us with oil as long as they benefited...which they did.

What happened in Abu Ghraib was nothing worse than a college hazing. US Troops robbing/killing/raping citizens? Well, I suppose it could happen, but my guess is that it's just the media and Bush-hating pundits who speculate. Saddam would bury a woman up to her waist and have her stoned to death if she was suspected of causing shame to her family.

You simply cannot compare America to Iraq.

Remember, America has to build walls to keep people out, and other countries have to terrorize and build walls to keep their people IN.

Germany was able to defeat the Allied armies for a long period of time during WW2 because they had vastly superior technology, tactics and discipline than anything the Allied forces could of ever had. Often they fought against enemies who had numerical superiority, but Germany had technological superiority. Even in the II Gulf War, the USA and Britain and other Allied forces are unable to defeat the enemy, despite having superlative technology which, in a conventional war, would totally destroy the enemy. It's not what you have in a game that counts, it's how you use it. America has former insurgents/militia on its payroll, which is why the violence in Iraq is relatively low. After the USA pulls out, it will continue to fund these groups so that it can continue sucking their nation of Oil, Natural gas and other natural resources. Think of it like this: to whom will their allegiance (militia/insurgents) be to, once the financial backing is not there?! So... to answer your question, no. Great Britain could not have won the I Gulf War w/o the assistance of the USA. It would of been impossible. 'Superior thinking has always overwhelmed superior forces.' -- U.S.M.C. quote.

The US would have to do a 1000 times the raping/killing/robbing that the propaganda accuses them of. You should look at the recovery and identification of bodies that is still going on and will be from Abu Ghraib ALONE that happened under the monster that was Saddam Hussein. That is without even starting on the genocide of the Kurds.

Under Sadaam there was a thriving Christian population in Iraq, Taraq Aziz, the Deputy Prime Minister was a Christian.

Now almost the entire Christian population has fled Iraq.

There was electricity all day and night under Sadaam. Only the rulers in the Green zone get that now. Clean water, the same.

Women did not have to wear headgear and you could buy alchohol under Sadaam. Now you can be murdered for not being muslim enough.

Iraq WAS the second largest producer of oil in the world, now it is dependent on our aid.

    Mission Accomplished

    You are totally misinformed.

The Iraq people are not anywhere near Utopia today..but they are far better off now since the US and the Coalition forces got rid of Saddam and his butchers...check it out!

they have been esentially a third world country since this first started with bush sr. how they went from 3rd world c. to nuclear super power in less than ten years? how we went from afganistan to iraq? strange also. I imagine that these people have never known a day with out war, i also imagine that there is a lot of propaganda about how the iraqis are handling things, most people there are poor, and statisticly most people are pasifists, so i can speculate they as well as we are tired,,,, we are sick of this sudo christian war and sick of oil mongering and lies,,,,,, live and let live,, what is so hard about that?

wow...I think you might be delirious. What about the mass murders Saddam committed? Men, women & children-it didn't matter-he killed them all. Iraqis are killing each other, don't forget....and despite the unfortunate actions of certain military personnel, you can not apply those characteristics to our entire armed forces. In every place at any time there are bound to be bad people (like what we just saw at Viginia Tech), but you can not categorize the entire school as murderers. Basically-we have not had any more attacks on us or our allies, but we have foiled some. The Iraqis (specifically the Kurds) are not being mutilated buried in mass graves. The country had democratic elections and are starting to make their country their own as opposed to being brutally ruled by a dictator!

we really don't know because media only covers what sells, death and destruction. but from what I have been able to hear, outside the Sunni triangle things are much better than before. inside, different story.

    Please cite your known fact:

Total Destruction was an album put out by Unsane in 1994.

If Iraq was totally destroyed there would be no place for our soldiers to shi*, much less stand.

Quit trolling and go plant some begonias!
