I sent MS Word 2007 documents to people, and some told me they couldn't open it. Why? Any solution?
Thanks.

you probably saved it as a ms word 2007 file (.docx). Go to "save as" and choose the option that says ms word 1997-2003, and it should save as a .doc file instead of a .docx file. The recipient (I'm assuming the problem was he/she had an older version of word) should be able to open it.

When you have completed a document on Word 2007 and go to save it, there are several save options that allow you to save it in a format compatible with older versions of Word. Check your options before saving.

Thats because they've Office 2003 or below. When you save a document in office 2007, it'll be saved (by default) as a .docx file. Use the "save as" option for your document as a 2003 file. That would do.

Your Word document may contain a feature that is only available to Word2007. Try Save-As and change the type to an older version of Word.

Save them as RTF documents if you want more people to be able to read it. MS uses a very particular format and if the user doesn't have the same exact office version they cant read them.. Save it in a more gerneralized format.

I bleliev MS Word 2007 is not backward compatible with earlier versions. Save your document again and make it compatible with earlier versions...there is such an option under the save command...send it again and see what happens. good luck.

If you are running Mac OSX: When you right click or control click on it, click "Other..." instead of MS Excel. Once your there, under "Enable" click "All Applications". Then, check the box that says "Always open with". Then you can select MS Word, and it should work. If you are running any other operating system: I don't know. Sorry.

go back and save it in rich text format, rtf, if they don't have the newer version of word then they can't see it unless you save it in rtf.
